The comedian Kathy Griffin is serious about real estate—she bought one home and sold another in the same week.

The star of “My Life on the D-List” is involved with A-list property. She sold her longtime Bel-Air abode for just over $14 million on Dec. 4.

The savvy shopper made the sale soon after closing on a smaller but no less swanky Malibu beach house for $8.8 million on Dec. 2, Variety reported.

Let’s take a look at her deals.

Moving into Malibu

With the Bel-Air home sale in the works, Griffin moved ahead with a purchase of a dazzling home in the Point Dume area of Malibu.

She snagged the brand-new build for a hefty $8.8 million. She managed to score a bit of a discount in the process, because the home had initially hit the market for $9.6 million in April.

Designed by the Swiss architect Roger Kurath, the gated contemporary offers ocean views on 8,200 square feet of luxe living space. The floor plan is airy and open, with floor-to-ceiling glass walls and multiple terraces, including one on the rooftop.

Porcelain tile floors run from the interior spaces to the outdoor areas, which serves to expand the living space. A streamlined kitchen includes Miele appliances. The home offers five bedroom suites, and the master includes a fireplace, soaking tub, and access outside.

On the lower level, there’s a second living area with wet bar, wine room, home theater, and fitness studio.

Outside, the 1.85-acre grounds feature an infinity pool, spa, and water-efficient landscaping. Other amenities include a security system, four-car garage, and a convenient locale, moments to Malibu beaches, shopping, and dining.

Sandro Dazzan with The Agency represented the seller. Joshua Altman with Douglas Elliman repped the buyer.

Bye-bye to Bel-Air

Griffin’s Bel-Air mansion was initially placed on the market in September for $16 million. The price dropped to $14.75 million a month later.

Built in 2003, it’s located behind the guarded gates of the celebrity-dotted enclave of Bel Air Crest. Even though the comic didn’t get her full ask, it proved a profitable investment, since she purchased the property for $10.5 million in 2016.

Set behind gates, the Mediterranean estate spans 13,377 square feet, with eight bedrooms, 10 full bathrooms, and two half-bathrooms.

The luxe layout features a chef’s kitchen with stainless-steel appliances and two islands. The kitchen looks out to the great room, which features wood beam ceilings and pocket doors that lead out and frame the views. A master suite includes a private balcony, a fireplace, dual baths, and two closets.

Other amenities include an office, theater, bonus rooms, a bar, wine cellar, elevator, and garage.

On 0.62 acres, the backyard features a pavilion, lounge space, and infinity-edge pool, and often appears as the backdrop for the star and her dogs on social media.

The buyer is reported to be Lilly Ghalichi, a cast member of the reality show “Shahs of Sunset.”

Joshua Altman with Douglas Elliman repped Griffin. David Kramer with Hilton & Hyland represented the buyer.

Sold in Hollywood Hills

Before her Bel-Air buy, the sometimes controversial comedian and reality star owned a home called “Wings” in the Hollywood Hills. She bought the residence in 2004 for $2.85 million.

The home measured more than 8,000 square feet, and served as the backdrop to her reality series “Life on the D-List.”

Fans of the show will recognize the space. In midcentury modern style, it comes with water features, terrazzo floors, and stacked-stone accent walls. The backyard has an outdoor fireplace, sitting and dining areas, a pool, and a spa.

After overseeing a number of renovations on the five-bedroom property, she placed it on the market for $5.5 million in 2016.

The following year, with the home still on the market, Griffin dropped the price tag to just below $5 million. That did the trick, and the mansion sold for $4,492,500 in November 2017.
