As the abbreviated baseball season was winding down, San Diego Padres slugger Manny Machado was busy making real estate deals in South Florida.

The four-time All-Star snagged a $7.2 million home in Coral Gables, FL, in late September, according to The Real Deal.

The property on which Machado’s new abode sits was purchased by a local builder in February 2016 for $2.15 million.

After the purchase, the company began construction on a massive, 10,301-square-foot estate designed by the renowned architect Max Strang. According to the listing details, the mansion was finished in July 2020.

Prior to its completion, the unfinished spec home landed on the market in 2018 with an asking price of $8.6 million. It lingered on the market for a couple of years before Machado made a deal for the modern two-story manse.

The custom dwelling features seven bedrooms, 6.5 bathrooms, and 7,411 square feet on just under an acre.

The listing details touted a minimalist design with a unity between indoor and outdoor spaces, a big plus in the Sunshine State.

The finished product is located on a corner lot behind the exclusive 24/7 guard-gated community of Hammock Lakes. The outdoor space is said to offer “abundant tropical landscaping” and a pool.

Before the 2019 season, Machado signed a 10-year, $300 million contract with the San Diego Padres. A few months later, he purchased a vast, $11.3 million waterfront estate also in Coral Gables.

Machado, 28, is a South Florida native who made his major league debut at the age of 19 with the Baltimore Orioles in 2012. He spent seven seasons starring for the O’s before a mid-season trade in 2018 to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

After a half-season in Los Angeles, the third baseman hit the free-agent market and landed his megacontract with the Pads. He is a four-time All-Star and two-time Gold Glove Award winner.
