John Ratzenberger, best known for his star turn as postal worker Cliff Clavin on the hit sitcom “Cheers,” might be less cheerful after the recent sale of his historic Milford, CT, home.
The actor listed this coastal beauty for $2,450,000 in October. But when no offers surfaced, the price was reduced several times before landing at $1,690,000 earlier this year. And after all the papers were signed, the four-bedroom, 3.5-bath property sold for $1,670,000.
However, the actor picked up the place in 2011 for $1,130,000, so he still came out ahead.

The old home abounds with delightful details, including coffered ceilings and custom millwork. The open layout is inviting and warm, flowing easily from the kitchen and dining room to the living area and sunroom beyond. Windows surround much of this space, flooding the first level with natural light and water vistas.
The family room is upstairs, along with a bedroom. Additional sleep space is situated on the top floor. There are multiple stone fireplaces and walk-in closets, plus a seating area in the primary bedroom.
The new owner has access to a private strip of sand, as the home is part of the Laurel Beach Association.
Along with his work on “Cheers,” Ratzenberger, 77, has voiced memorable animated characters in such films as “Toy Story” and “Cars.” He also appeared on the show “Poker Face” last year.
