The comedian Richard Lewis, known for his hilariously neurotic friendship with show creator and star Larry David on HBO’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” has died. He was 76.

David paid tribute to his longtime friend in a written statement Wednesday.

“Richard and I were born three days apart in the same hospital and for most of my life he’s been like a brother to me,” David said. “He had that rare combination of being the funniest person and also the sweetest. But today he made me sob and for that I’ll never forgive him.”

While Lewis leaves a legacy of comedic genius in his trademark satiric performances, he also left behind his Los Angeles real estate.

Lewis’ last house

While the photos haven’t been updated since Lewis purchased the scenic spot in 2016 for just over $1.5 million, you can get an idea of what a calm and tranquil space it is.

The three-bedroom, midcentury-era abode set behind tall gates is completely private thanks to abundant and lush landscaping, giving the feel of a true escape.

Inside, the nearly 2,300 square feet of living space features indoor-outdoor connections, walls of glass, and a mix of bamboo and slate flooring.

The listing notes that at the time it last changed hands, the home had been “tastefully remodeled,” including updates to the baths and the kitchen.

The living and dining areas, as well as the primary bedroom, all open up to the backyard.

The property includes a pool with a waterfall and a patio.

Located in the Lake Hollywood Estates district, the home is close to the studios and Hollywood, as well as downtown Los Angeles, according to the listing.

Mediterranean pad

Prior to picking up his Zen retreat, Lewis had a 1920s Mediterranean-style home in the Hollywood Hills. He owned the property from 1989 to 2017, records show.

Lewis listed the three-bedroom dwelling in 2016 for about $1.6 million, eventually selling it the following year for $1.4 million.

Highlights of the well-appointed property included a “penthouse-level” primary suite with an office.

The listing agent representing the property eight years ago, Peter Maurice, noted that Lewis was parting with the place because “he wanted a change.”

The residence had previously belonged to actor Eddie Albert, who starred in the TV show “Green Acres.”

Lewis had been on the comedy scene for decades, then taking on acting roles in movies such as “Robin Hood: Men in Tights” and “Game Day.” He starred opposite Jamie Lee Curtis in the sitcom “Anything But Love.” Most recently, he played a fictionalized version of himself in “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” which is in its final season.
