If these walls could talk, you can only imagine the musical stories they would tell.

A Franklin, TN, estate with a hidden recording studio, is ready for a new music-loving steward to call the five-bedroom property home.

Initially listed in September for $5.5 million, the harmonious house’s price tag has since been lightened to $4,970,000.

The place last traded hands in 2015 for $625,000, based on data from Realtor.com®.

According to The Tennessean, the 6,139-square-foot residence, owned by singer and audio book recorder Kim Horrocks and her songwriter/producer/artist husband, Lee Horrocks, has hosted performers including Emmylou Harris and Brandy Clark.

In fact, one of the home’s highlights might not be obvious at first glance. The secret “world-class” recording studio, as the listing describes it, is hidden behind a bookshelf-shaped doorway.

To get inside, “You press a button, and the door opens up to the studio,” explains listing agent Cindy Garvey, of United Country – Leipers Fork L & H.

But the music studio wasn’t part of the original house.

“The people who own the property purchased it in 2015 and built out the studio in the basement,”  Garvey says.

The 1976-era mansion’s picturesque setting along the Harpeth River is enough to entice a buyer, but the luxury of having an in-house recording studio will certainly be a draw for many.

“More than likely, it will go to someone who is also in the music business,” Garvey predicts. “One gentleman called about it who wants an active studio that he can jump right into. The [home’s] owner is making a list of some equipment he might be able to sell.”

“When Lee and Kim bought the property in 2015, it was kind of a mess, so it went through an overhaul, both inside and out,” Garvey notes. “The roof and heating and air conditioning system are newer as well.”

The layout also includes a sauna, two offices, a home bar, and plenty of spaces to perform.

One of the most impressive features of the home just might be its hidden, state-of-the-art recording studio tucked away behind a hidden doorway on the lower level.

Guitars line the walls. A pool table sits in the entertainment room, and a keyboard and impressive sound system are ready for a new music-maker to sit center stage.

The sellers even decorated the space with an iconic red telephone booth from London.

“The owners are from England, so the phone booth sort of pays homage to their roots and stays with the home,” Garvey says.

Offering nearly 3 acres of privacy overlooking a 300-acre equestrian estate, the gated residence has many spots to soak in the peaceful views beside the Harpeth River.

“A Brazilian teak deck overlooks the river and has stunning views,” Garvey shares. “There is also a fire pit area out back as well as a basketball pad.”

The property is just 30 minutes from Nashville and close to abundant conveniences.

“It is just 10 minutes to Highway 100 that has lots of stores and restaurants,” Garvey says.
