After only two weeks on the market, the iconic Spitzer House in Los Angeles is changing hands. The Italianate mansion was listed just last month for $4,650,000 and is now marked as contingent on Realtor.com®.

The 4,202-square-foot home was last sold in 2010 for $1,783,500.

Built in 1924 by architect Charles Raymond Spink, the house offers a glimpse into Hollywood’s Golden Age and is said to have hosted numerous celebrities, including “Emmy and Golden Globe winners, and industry elite” during its 100-year history, the listing notes.

Filled with antique details such as arched doorways, decorative moldings, iron-forged gates, light fixtures, and even some of the original tile work—the home is a true masterpiece of the Spanish Revival movement.

As a relic of the Prohibition era, the property also boasts several quirks, including a hidden room where alcohol could be discreetly imbibed. The secret space is tucked just off the library, which is decked out with an antler light fixture and elegant built-ins.

Modern meets mature

Despite its age, the property at 4963 Los Feliz Boulevard feels relatively modern because of its comprehensive floor plan. Each of the five bedrooms has an en suite bathroom.

Spink created “the ultimate flow and California living experience by focusing on the relationship between the interiors of the home and the outdoor spaces,” the listing notes.

The place recently underwent a complete kitchen renovation that included all new fixtures, an oversized island, and appliances by SubZero, Wolf, and Miele.

Elsewhere, a separate breakfast room and a sunroom are bathed in natural light.

Gorgeous grounds

The gated driveway opens to a richly landscaped lot with views of Griffith Park Observatory and a surprisingly private outdoor space a little larger than a quarter-acre. The grounds boast a heated pool, an outdoor shower, and a fire pit with built-in seating. There’s also space for a dining table.
