New wave music lovers know GeraldJerry” Casale as the co-founder, co-lead vocalist, and bass player of the influential group Devo. Fewer know of his longtime interest in California wines.

But it’s becoming more apparent now, as Casale puts his famous Hollywood studio/residence on the market for $4,995,000, according to property records.

The Ohio native has moved full time to a ranch in Napa, CA, where he’s focused on marketing the fruit of the vine.

Casale’s storied Los Angeles compound has been the site of many prominent audio and video productions.

The place was originally built in 1962 in the heart Hollywood. It has since been transformed into a cutting-edge music studio on the first floor and a modern, private residence on the second.

Casale founded Devo, along with brother Bob Casale, Mark Mothersbaugh, and Bob Mothersbaugh, in the early 1970s. He’s probably best known for the hit “Whip It.”

He’s also had a successful solo career and has produced hit music videos for Devo and other groups.

But Casale’s also had a long-standing interest is wine, since moving to California more than 40 years ago. He has been involved in many aspects of the winemaking and marketing process.

Listing agent Max Shapiro, of Westside Estate Agency, says qualified buyers who make appointments for showings will meet the owner to learn more about the property’s broad range of residential and recording functionality.
