When you think of a mobile home, an image probably comes to mind.

However, this delightful manufactured home in Calabasas, CA, doesn’t fit the typical idea of a prefab property, not by a long shot.

“When I walked in, it wasn’t just turnkey. It was, ‘Give me the key,’” says Jordan Reid, marketing director for Mobile Homes Malibu, which lists manufactured homes for sale in the area. “It’s one of those properties that you can see the owner paid such close attention to detail in virtually every single room.”

Ren Smith and Olivia Riley with Coldwell Banker Realty are co-listing the property for $749,000.

That is a fraction of the price you’d find for a traditional construction in the area, Reid says. “A comparable home with these kinds of details and a pool in the backyard, you wouldn’t find that in the under a million dollar range.”

This home is about 1,700 square feet and has two bedrooms and three bathrooms, all with high-end finishes.

There are “details that you don’t traditionally see [in a manufactured home]. Like in the primary bathroom, there’s a Kelly Wearstler light fixture and a private steam shower,” she says.

The backyard comes with a small but cool “cowboy pool,” a grill, a lounging area, and hookups for a TV.

“The backyard is obviously paradise for anyone, whether you’re an entertainer or a homebody. You just never want to leave,” Reid says.

The house is in Calabasas Village, an area Reid says is close to everything in the Malibu area. The community offers a pool, clubhouse, tennis courts, dog park, and gym, among other amenities. The homeowners association fee, which covers trash, internet, cable, security, and water, is $1,998 a month.

“It has all of these things that you don’t traditionally get with a home at this value that is this beautiful,” she says. “I think the perfect buyer would be someone who can really appreciate all the energy and effort that the homeowner put into this property. That could be anyone who wants to live in this kind of community.”

In this community, the buyer will be getting a land lease, so the land isn’t included in the sale.

Reid says this home is part of a local trend.

“You are starting to see those [high-end] things in manufactured homes, but I still think it can be surprising to people who have never been in one,” she says. “I think it just defies people’s expectations of the possibilities that manufactured home can present.”
