An award-winning estate that spans three city lots in Chicago has just landed on the market, with a price tag of $7,250,000.

“It was really Brad Lynch’s tour de force,” says Compass listing agent Brad Lippitz of the architect, who designed the totally modern residence in the Bucktown neighborhood. “It’s a timeless, modern masterpiece.”

The 8,000-square-foot home has had only one owner, who commissioned the design in 2013. There are five bedrooms and six baths.

Lynch, who died in 2022, was a co-founder of Brininstool + Lynch, an architectural firm whose projects include the Racine Art Museum in Racine, WI, and private homes in Chicago.

“The details of this house are unlike anything I’ve ever seen before,” Lippitz says.

Mostly concealed from the street, the showy home features glass walls with steel frames and white oak paneling throughout.

Past the entry hall are soaring ceilings, the living room with a skylight, and a floating staircase. On the second level are three large bedroom suites, including the primary suite. Two more bedrooms are on the third level.

Designed to be eco-friendly, the home features two roof terraces equipped with irrigation, geothermal heating and cooling, and radiant-heat flooring.

The spacious home is equipped with floor-to-ceiling pocket doors, which turn some of the spacious areas into more intimate spaces.

The lower level includes a family room that could also function as a playroom. The home comes with a five-car, heated garage attached to a mudroom.

“The buyer is either somebody with a deep appreciation for the architectural purity of the house, or it could be for an athlete, or someone in the entertainment industry,” Lippitz says. “It is a trophy house.”

The location is close to boutiques, cafes, and restaurants. Plus, it’s steps to the elevated 606 trail, a former rail line that’s now a walkable green space.

“It’s one of the hottest areas of Chicago,” Lippitz adds.
