Netflix’s “Selling the OC” star Gio Helou has just listed his Newport Beach, CA, family home for $15,895,000.

Fans of the show will recognize the stunning waterfront property, which was featured in several memorable episodes of Season 1 (casino night, anyone?) and will be seen once again in Season 2, to be released later this year.

The 3,817-square-foot home’s bright, open floor plan boasts glass walls that open to front-row views of the bay.

A gourmet chef’s kitchen offers custom cabinets, sand-hued countertops, high-end appliances, and a walk-in pantry. The nearby living room has coffered ceilings and a beautiful fireplace with an ornate mantel.

‘100% bittersweet’

“This was my childhood home, and with that comes a lot of emotions that are tied to selling it,” says Helou, who is also the property’s listing agent, with The Oppenheim Group. “It’s 100% bittersweet. It has been an emotional rollercoaster, taking down personal photos and showing it to strangers seems surreal. There are a lot of reasons tied to making the decision to sell it, but it’s time to say goodbye. We are ready to have the next family come in and make their own memories here.”

‘Incredible’ location

The four-bedroom home sits on Balboa Peninsula Point, just steps from Wedge Beach.

Other luxury highlights throughout the property include a below-ground wine cellar, an elevator, a second-floor living room with a balcony, and a two-car garage. The luxe, outdoor living space also features a covered deck with a built-in grill and fire pit.

“Its location next to the mouth of the ocean on the bay is just incredible,” Helou says. “It is a beautiful canvas of sailboats going by. There is a private dock, so you can jump on paddleboats and enjoy the water. If you just want to take in the views, you can head up to the rooftop deck that is pretty spectacular. Looking out at the ocean from there is incredible.”

How did the opportunity for the home to be featured on “Selling the OC” come about?

“When the show was created, they asked where we lived and could we please film there,” Helou explains. “I said it would be a privilege and an honor to have the house featured on the show. Now, the house has almost become its own character. It’s not only me who feels the sale is bittersweet, but all of the castmates feel the same way.”

One en suite bedroom is found on the first floor, with two more upstairs. A sprawling primary bedroom features a balcony that spans the length of the sitting area, which has a fireplace. The primary bathroom offers double vanities, two water closets, and an oversized shower.

Helou says it’s difficult to fully envision the home’s next residents.

“It’s hard not to sort of see another version of yourself living there,” he says. “I want someone who appreciates the home for what it is. It would make a great primary or vacation home. Its location is really A-plus.”
