Almost everything is included in the sale of this dazzling, candy-colored time capsule in Palm Springs, CA.

“Most of the furnishings and decor are original to when it was first built in 1969,” explains listing agent Klint Watkins, with Berkshire Hathaway Home Services California Properties. “Everything has been maintained very well throughout its history.”

The plush property last sold in 2019 for $1,150,000. It then returned to the market the following year for $1,969,000. Then, the price actually increased to $2,299,000 in January 2023.

In March, the ask dropped by $100,000, to its current $2,199,000 price.

Tchotchkes included

The list price for the three-bedroom, three-bath abode includes everything inside.

“All furnishings and most tchotchkes are included,” Watkins says. “All the tchotchkes that were there when [the sellers] purchased the house will stay with the house.”

The current owners have had the 3,350-square-foot home since August of 2019. They’ve lived in the house and have also used it as a rental.

In the past, the home has even been a backdrop for various artistic endeavors.

“There have been numerous music videos and different sorts of filming and photography,” Watkins says. “It’s building a history now.”

The family that built it owned the place for many years, and there have only been two additional owners since.

“Everybody that comes into this property looks at it as something that they need to keep the same, because it really is a time capsule,” Watkins says, adding that the current owners put lots of money into mechanicals, such as a solar system, new air conditioning units, and double-pane windows.

It’s the vivid hues that attract the most attention in the home.

“People are blown away by how original everything is and how kind of wild the place is,” Watkins notes. “The pink room gets everybody. Everybody just falls in love with the pink room.”

And naturally, there is also a pink bathroom.

“The bathtub is a poured terrazzo tub in the center of [the bathroom], so that is there for life,” Watkins says with a laugh, adding that the room is carpeted—except for the toilet area, which is tiled.

The pink room opens to the pool area, as does a blue guest suite on the opposite side of the house.

The bright green, formal living room is in a rotunda shape with floor-to-ceiling windows, chandeliers, and furniture built specifically for the room.

A green dining room has similar carpeting and window treatments.

Watkins notes that the carpet in the blue room is new, but the pink and green carpets are original.

“They’re just in excellent shape,” he says. “All of the carpets are very plush.”

While most of the finishes are original, the kitchen is new. It was installed when the house appeared in a 2018 episode of a Netflix show called “Stay Here.”

Watkins says his favorite room of the house isn’t the most colorful one.

“It’s the Tom Jones room, the room with all the paneling,” he says. “It’s a den, and it’s so comfortable. It has a bar, a fireplace, jukebox, television, and white shag carpet. It’s just very nice and just comfortable to hang out in.”

The home was on the market in 2020 and also in 2019 at a lower price.

“The market has significantly gone up here,” Watkins explains. “The price per square foot that we have it listed at is a really good price for something in that area, for that square footage.”

Still, the home and its splashy color palette will likely require a unique buyer.

It will be “somebody who does like flair and something different and not just cookie cutter—but something that stands out more,” Watkins says. “Those types of buyers tend to be a little bit on the eccentric side themselves. They have a little bit of a style and fashion flair and that kind of thing going on.”
