A lavish estate in the Nashville, TN, area is set to be sold during a “no-reserve, absolute” auction on Saturday. The mansion will be sold to the highest bidder.

Located in Brentwood, home to many musicians, this opulent, four-bedroom property has hosted some of the biggest names in entertainment, business, politics, and country music, including Carrie Underwood, Tim McGraw, and Brad Paisley.

The massive mansion features many exquisite details, including fixtures from Argentina, custom woodwork, and a lead crystal chandelier from the Czech Republic autographed by Dolly Parton.

The mansion also boasts a grand entry hall with double staircases and formal living and entertaining spaces.

Option to auction

“We brought the idea of an auction to our clients, and they thought it was a great idea,” says listing agent Rebecca Norris DiNapoli, of Compass, who is representing the property in conjunction with DeCaro Auctions. “It’s not like this is a fire sale or anything. The sellers just wanted to let someone else enjoy the property as they have.”

Luxury estate auctions have been the route for some high-profile properties on the West Coast. They include the Bel-Air estate known as  “The One,” which was sold for $141 million last year. And after years on the market at various price points, the Hearst Estate in Beverly Hills was finally sold at auction for over $63 million in 2021.

As for the Brentwood estate, the sellers purchased the property in 2014 for $1,987,000. It was initially listed last August for $12,799,000, but no buyers came forward.

“Because it is such a unique property, we just thought the idea of an auction would be a way for the property owner to convey it,” DiNapoli says.

“A lot of people … have seen it, but never came inside,” she adds. “People are excited to come to the auction. It is not open to the public. You have to view the property beforehand and then register for the auction.”

Living it up

The mansion on the 4.6-acre hilltop parcel was built in 2000 and designed for large-scale entertaining.

“The free-standing main home features about 10,000 square feet,” DiNapoli says. “It has a three-car garage with apartment above and a 4,100-square-foot entertainment building known as ‘the ballroom.’

“The sellers utilized the event space for their own use and brought in many big-name entertainers for private parties and numerous performances to raise money for charitable events,” she says.

DiNapoli notes that interest in the mansion has been varied.

“Some people have come through looking to utilize the home as a space for private events, while others have said they would like to turn the space into a car showroom, pool house with indoor pool, or bowling alley,” she says.

Local real estate broker Jeremy Jeter, of Engel & Völkers, is looking forward to seeing how the auction plays out.

“It is always hard to say how much it will go for on a property like that,” he says. “There are so many interesting and exotic materials found in the home.

“Homes of similar square footage have traded in the last year for around $4 million,” he continues. “A house like that was built for someone and has hosted significant events over the years, so it’s going to take a special buyer. Someone might look to use the home in a similar nature, hosting lavish parties and charitable events.”
