We all know that people in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones. But at one glass beauty in Carmel, CA, you can nearly toss a pebble into the ocean from its breathtaking locale.

This eye-catching masterpiece was built in 2015 and features a stylish, modern design.

“The house was custom-built by architect Eric Miller,” says listing agent Jessica Canning, of Canning Properties Group. “The owner wanted to create a warm, contemporary home that was perfect for both family and guests, so they made one large space to maximize the view and have a place to gather in one spot.”

No address? No problem

The four-bedroom property might be hard to find by GPS, but locals can point you in the right direction when you ask for the house by name.

“What’s interesting about the houses in Carmel is that there are no street addresses,” Canning says. “Part of the charm of the area is that everyone names their homes. This one is located at the southeast corner of Scenic and Ninth, and the home’s name is Sea Glass.”

The homeowners chose a variety of stylish and durable interior finishes throughout the home’s 3,150 square feet.

“It’s dog- and kid-friendly, so the floors are tile and not wood,” Canning explains. “They used diverse textures, from the flooring to the decorating.”

Four bedrooms for a golf foursome

On the main level, there’s a primary suite with a private deck and hot tub. A separate guest suite on this floor overlooks the outdoor fire pit.

Two more guest suites are on the lower level, along with a wine-storage area.

In a golf community, the home’s magic number of bedrooms could certainly be considered a selling point.

“Having two bedrooms upstairs and two bedrooms downstairs is important for a couple of reasons,” Canning notes. “The average house size in Carmel is 1,600 square feet. To find one that is over 3,000 square feet is a big deal. A four-bedroom home is also a big number, because it is located near Pebble Beach, which is a golf community.”

She explains that golf foursomes might find the spacious house a particularly fitting accommodation.

As for the next buyer, Canning has a hunch it will be “someone from San Francisco or the Bay Area, looking for a second home. In that part of Carmel, most of the properties are second homes,” she says.

There is one nonnegotiable requirement for the home’s new owner: comfortable footwear.

“Carmel is a big walking community, and this home is right in the heart of it,” Canning says. “All of the streets are level and walkable.”

The house is in the Golden Rectangle, an area of downtown Carmel with plenty of art galleries and restaurants.

“The home is just a unique combination of assets and checks so many boxes,” Canning says.
