“When the home was built, it was billed as [Gnant] trying to test the market for upscale contemporary homes,” says listing agent Colleen Resendiz, of Benefit Realty. Five other homes designed by Gnant were built in the surrounding area.

As for his personal home, it has retained much of its original beauty, says Resendiz.

“Gnant was certainly ahead of his time when it came to designing this home,” Resendiz says. “He installed a low-voltage lighting system that is still there today. There is a room they call a music room that has a vintage map on the wall. Not only was Gnant an architect, but he was also a talented violinist and displayed many of his violins in that room.”

Gnant and his wife have since passed away. The couple’s daughter now lives in the home and has taken cues from her father’s sensibilities when it comes to renovations.

“The only updates she has done are with the bathrooms and taking out some carpet and installing oak floors,” Resendiz says. “When she was doing the updates, she was asking herself what her father would have done.”
