What was your most interesting job before going into real estate?

Software development consultant

Where did you grow up?

Mostly Long Island, N.Y.

Growing up, what did you want to be?

As a child: A cartoonist, inspired by Charles M. Schultz. In college: Consumer product marketing executive. Now: Realtor extraordinaire.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed?

I love playing tennis and attending live music events.

If you could meet any well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why?

Abraham Lincoln because I would love to ask for his advice on how to deal with the divisive culture in the U.S. today.

What is Atlanta’s best-kept secret?

The cost of living is very low compared to other cities given what it has to offer.

What do you love most about the industry?

Helping people become proud homeowners.

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents?

I am very tech savvy due to my background as a software development consultant, and now I also have a greater knowledge of the financing side of things because I have become a licensed mortgage loan originator as well as an agent.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job?

Competing with Wall Street companies that are squandering investor money by making investments that simply don’t make business sense, losing billions and telling investors that they will one day be profitable, which does not seem true.

What’s your best advice for generating new leads?

Try things that don’t require a long-term commitment or contract so you can stop them if they don’t work. Also, do not neglect your existing database as a great source of repeat and referral business.

What are you binge-watching/reading/listening to lately?

I read mostly nonfiction informational things and prefer to watch fictional stories vs. reading them. I still listen mostly to 80’s and 90’s classic and alternative rock music (Rush, Genesis, Pearl Jam, etc.). I have never gotten into the hip hop that seems to dominate today’s music scene. Perhaps I’m just too old to appreciate it; but I miss the days when music was about musicianship: skill level at writing, playing instruments and vocals. Some of my favorite TV shows have been Breaking Bad, Dexter and a few others.

What’s your favorite meal in Atlanta?

I don’t go to fancy restaurants frequently and prefer casual dining. I always enjoy Taqueria Tsunami.

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Atlanta?

The Fox Theater, of course.

What’s the weirdest thing that’s ever happened to you on the job?

Walking in on a squatter in a vacant home while showing homes to a buyer.

What’s one thing people are surprised to learn about you?

I like to sing karaoke.

What is your favorite vacation spot and why?

I enjoy a nice beach. Grand Cayman is probably one of the nicest I have been to.

What is your favorite city after Atlanta?

Perhaps Chicago

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry?

Don’t expect it to be easy.

What’s your favorite real estate iPhone/Android app?

I actually like Realtors Property Resource. It gives me additional info and a quick automated comparative market analysis on the fly while showing homes.

Who are your favorite people to follow on social media?

I tend to follow people who will make me laugh. Sebastian Maniscalco is very funny, and I enjoy seeing the video clips he posts.
