Even if you’re not a big hoops fan, you likely know the name Shaquille O’Neal. At over 7 feet tall, he’s the larger-than-life basketball superstar who played for six teams, won four championships, appeared in movies and TV ads, and serves as an analyst on TNT’s “Inside the NBA.”

The 50-year-old Hall of Famer is also busy collecting real estate.

So as we jump into the new NBA season, right now feels like an appropriate time to tour all of the residences, past and present, owned by the former Los Angeles Lakers‘ star center.

First up, the homes O’Neal currently owns.

Livin’ large in Texas

One of the dwellings is in the Lone Star State.

He purchased the place in May 2022. While it was listed for $1,225,000, the final purchase price isn’t known. Built in 2005, this five-bedroom, 5.5-bath manse offers 5,269 square feet of living space. It features a swanky home office with a fireplace and tiered ceiling, a gym, a personal screening room, and a three-car garage.

Georgia on his mind

O’Neal clearly has a soft spot for the Peach Tree State, where he owns three homes in the Atlanta suburb of McDonough.

This particular stunner, above, was snapped up in 2016 for $1.15 million. Along with a second smaller home near the pool, the property totals 7,400 square feet, with eight bedrooms and 10 baths.

There’s also a three-stall barn with a workshop, should O’Neal care to pick up the equine fine art of dressage. The finished basement includes an in-law suite, a 12-seat home theater, a crafts room, and an exercise space.

Another of O’Neal’s McDonough properties is a 9,148-square-foot stunner with five bedrooms and eight baths. He purchased it in February 2020 for $1.125 million. His last McDonough home is much smaller, at 4,635 square feet. It comes with five bedrooms and four baths, and was picked up in July 2021 for just $387,500.

Other abodes

O’Neal also has homes in Florida, California, and Nevada.

He currently enjoys a place about 24 miles from Miami, in the town of Davie.

O’Neal added this property to his portfolio in February 2021, paying $2,625,000 for the seven-bedroom, seven-bath mansion. The contemporary estate spans 6,511 square feet and features a pool and home theater, amenities that seem standard in many of the baller’s homes.

Over on the West Coast, O’Neal has owned a Los Angeles pad for nearly 22 years. He bought the five-bedroom, four-bath property with a pool in December 2000 for a relative bargain price of $654,000.

And in case he’d like to check in on his restaurants, take in a show, or try his hand at craps, he can stop by his Las Vegas property, below, which he took on in 2021 for $1.9 million.

This Vegas home was built in 1993.

With four bedrooms and four baths, this 4,824-square-foot Vegas estate on an acre lot also sports a pretty blue exterior, an open layout, a primary bedroom hidden behind a secret door, and a pool and putting green out back.

Saying ‘so long’ to Shaq-apulco

There are also many homes that O’Neal has bought and sold. He played for two Florida teams in his storied career—the Orlando Magic and the Miami Heat—so he had put down roots in this Southern state.

Most recently, he finally cut ties with his famed “Shaq-apulco” home in October 2021. After multiple price cuts over three years, the Windermere estate was sold for $11 million. The eight-bedroom, 12-bath estate was originally listed for $28 million.

This highly customized home was a tough sell, as not everyone wants the “S” initial etched on their shower door or stair railings.

Plus, it’s massive, at 28,937 square feet and set on 4 acres. It featured a two-story entryway, indoor basketball court, cigar room, dance studio, aquarium room, home theater, and wine bar.

The hoops legend also let go of an eight-bedroom, eight-bath mansion on the tony Star Island. The 20,000-square-foot mansion was sold for $16 million in June 2009.

Star Island is home to other A-listers such as Gloria Estefan and Sean Combs. O’Neal might be kicking himself for selling too soon. The home next door is currently on the market for $77 million.

In Mount Dora, north of Orlando, one of O’Neal’s more petite homes went for $240,000 in March 2014. The 3,904-square-foot home has five bedrooms and four baths.

Lastly, O’Neal sold two homes in the Los Angeles area, one in Beverly Hills for $6.4 million in 2004 and the other in the nearly-as-posh gated community of Bell Canyon for $1.85 million in 2021.
