Former Washington Nationals star Ryan Zimmerman is listing his home base in Great Falls, VA, for $8.5 million.

The Virginia native and his wife, Heather, purchased the 5-acre property in 2012 for $3.9 million.  They added their own personal touches, including a man cave complete with a gym, wine cellar, and home theater. They also spruced up the landscaping and exterior space.

The couple reportedly lived in the family home year-round. Just 15 minutes from Washington, DC, the oasis offered “a little vacation at home,” Heather told Home & Design in 2016.

Winning real estate

The six-bedroom home was built in 2009 and measures 13,232 square feet. The light-filled living room features a gas fireplace and French doors, which open to the terrace and gardens.

There’s a dining room, a breakfast banquette, and a sunroom for formal and casual meals. The chef’s kitchen is equipped with a large marble island and is adjacent to a spacious family room.

The main level includes a primary bedroom with two dressing rooms, a separate shower and tub, and a private patio. The oak-paneled library and office overlooking the front yard are also on the main level.

Upstairs, there are four additional bedrooms and a second family room.

But the lower level is where you’ll find the big score. Designed for entertaining friends and family, the space features a bar, wine cellar, game room, home theater, gym with a steam room, and a guest suite.

Outside, the gated estate offers a pool, hot tub, cabana, and koi pond. There’s a two-bedroom pool house with an outdoor shower.

Zimmerman, 37, played college ball at the University of Virginia. Nicknamed “Mr. National,” he was a member of the Nationals for 16 seasons and was a two-time All-Star. He won the World Series championship with the Nats in 2019 and retired after the 2021 season.
