“Every room has a theme. There’s been so much thought put into this property—and so much Texas history,” says the listing agent, Christy Huckaby with Douglas Elliman Real Estate.

Many of the ranch’s distinctive fixtures and furnishings came from Round Top, a nearby town known as an antiquing mecca. Charred wood used in one of the ranch’s rooms came from Bastrop, an area ravaged by wildfires back in 2011.

The owners “bought some of the charred wood from those fires to create a log cabin room, and you can see the char on the wood,” Huckaby explains.

In addition to the log cabin room, there’s a room where everything looks like the inside of an old gold mine, a powder room that looks like an outhouse, and a room with a floating bed made of wagon wheels.

“The beds are hidden inside the walls behind lockers,” Huckaby explains, “and when you open up the lockers, the beds are inside.”

With sleeping spots for 26 people, this abundance of space is tailor-made for a multigenerational family.

A massive great room has tin ceilings and beams from old barns, for a rustic but nevertheless modern feel. The spacious kitchen has two islands and flows right into the dining and living areas.

If you’re not slumbering in one of the cozy bedrooms, there’s also a lot of room for activities in the 7,089-square-foot house.

The 19th-century replica of a saloon comes complete with an authentic, period honky-tonk.

“They brought it back to life and made it into a player piano,” Huckaby explains. “It is the coolest place you’ve ever seen in your life.”

The saloon also features a theater area, a game table, and a bar.

The fabulous custom furnishings in the listing photos aren’t included in the list price, but Huckaby says they could be negotiated into a deal.

Outside, the perk-packed property is a true showstopper.

“You’ve never seen so many waterfalls, a waterslide, a grotto,” Huckaby says.

One end of the pool is about 20 feet deep, designed so you can jump off a big rope swing into the water.

An outdoor kitchen is connected to the indoor living space by large sliding doors.

Huckaby says the home, which was completed in 2009, isn’t getting as much use now that the owners’ children and grandkids are getting older. She says she’s enjoyed showing the place, given the enthusiasm it inspires in visitors when she opens the front door.

With 200 acres, the location is private and secluded, only about a half-hour from College Station, Brenham, and Round Top.

“[The owners] built it as a getaway from Houston, and they designed it as a resort,” Huckaby says. “The place is very well thought out. They even placed the house where the sun would set, so you can sit out there and look out on the rolling hills and watch the sunset.”
