The co-director of “Avengers: Endgame,” Anthony Russo, has moved into an endgame for his Pasadena property. He just sold one of his mansions for $6.25 million, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Known as the Cordelia Culbertson house, the 110-year-old residence initially landed on the market in September 2020 for $6.25 million. But with no takers, it was relisted in March for a reduced $6 million.

In a twist ending that the screenwriter is likely to have appreciated, the transaction came in at $250,000 over the asking price, sealing the deal at the price Russo was originally looking for.

The Marvel Universe moviemaker does possess a keen eye for the universe of real estate. He purchased this storied home in 2018 for $5.8 million. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, it was built by architects Greene & Greene, leading proponents of the Arts and Crafts movement and well-known for their landmark Craftsman homes in Pasadena.

The house was completed in 1911, and was the last major residential commission the Greene brothers worked on together.

Located in the prestigious Oak Knoll district of Pasadena, the spread offers six bedrooms and seven bathrooms on 8,559 square feet.

The design includes Asian and Italianate elements. A dark green-tiled roof with red accents evokes an Eastern vibe, while Italian details include a ballroom, loggia, and garden. 

The entrance opens to a foyer with herringbone floors and a chandelier.

Other spaces include formal living and dining rooms, each with a fireplace, an updated kitchen with a breakfast bar, and an office. The living area with glass doors opens out to the gardens.

A master bedroom boasts a glassed-in sitting area, an en suite marble bathroom, and an enormous walk-in closet.

There are also guest quarters and an attached two-car garage.

The U-shaped building is set around a courtyard. The picturesque grounds feature gardens, an octagonal-shaped fountain, and a pergola, with room for outdoor dining.

Russo, 51, picked up the place in 2018, the year he and his brother, Joe Russo, directed “Avengers: Endgame,” which became one of the highest-grossing films of all time.

 

In 2019, the director snagged another storied Pasadena property, the Arden Villa, which has served as the backdrop for numerous film and TV shoots.

The home may be best known as the site of the lilypond catfight in the 1980s primetime soap opera “Dynasty,” and went on the market in 2017.

The infamous estate had been on the market for as much as $28 million, but Russo’s offer of $15,579,500 won him the 2.4-acre property.

Built in 1913, it features the legendary lilypond, a pool, tennis court, and manicured gardens, as well as a 10,290-square-foot mansion.

Russo also owned a midcentury modern pad that he bought in 2011 for $901,000, and extensively remodeled.

He let it go after his Pasadena land grab, and listed the 2,000-square-foot home, with its kidney-shaped pool, for $2,185,000 in 2019. It sold for a little over $2 million in 2020.

Russo and his brother are best known for directing Marvel franchise movies together, including “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” “Captain America: Civil War,” and “Avengers: Infinity War.”
