A rustic retreat in California’s vacation mecca of Lake Tahoe linked to Sen. Dianne Feinstein and her investment banker husband, Richard C. Blum, has surfaced on the market for $41 million.

The property is owned by an LLC tied to Blum’s investment management firm, Blum Capital.

The waterfront compound briefly tested the market in October 2020 with a $46 million asking price. Now, the property is back at a slightly lower, yet still prodigious price.

No matter what your political affiliation, the senator’s multihome spread has a good chance to win your vote.

Located on Lake Tahoe’s picturesque West Shore, the spread was last renovated in the 1990s. It offers 278 feet of white sand beach, along with a 172-foot pier extending into the water, plus a boatlift and two buoys.

The three homes on the coveted piece of property encompass 10,343 square feet, seven bedrooms, and seven bathrooms. Thanks to the multiple residences, the offering is said to provide “grand entertainment capability.” Set on 4.75 acres, the acreage offers privacy for guests and homeowners alike, with meandering paths leading to each residence.

Entering into the main house, the cabin-style build features an open plan, with a living room with a stone-surround fireplace, and a dining area that opens to the deck. The open kitchen that adjoins the living and dining areas features bar seating, stainless-steel appliances, a center island, as well as built-in cabinets and a pantry for plentiful storage.

For a buyer in search of a turnkey Tahoe retreat, the property is being offered “mostly furnished.” Luxe elements include wood and stone flooring, high ceilings, walls of windows, and glass doors that open outside.

Other interior features include an office, two master suites, a family room, loft, laundry room, and attached garage.

Three decks look out to the water, and a long, winding path leads down to the private beach and dock.

Two additional guest homes offer high ceilings, living and dining areas, and kitchens. Since they function independently of the main house, hosting family or friends would be a breeze.

Along with wood decks, the woodsy grounds also feature grassy lawns. One of the guesthouses opens to a stone deck and fire pit.

It’s possible Feinstein and her husband are expecting to take advantage of the uptick in the current interest in housing outside city centers, which exploded during the pandemic. Located about 200 miles north of San Francisco, where the power couple are based, the Tahoe estate allows for remote working in style, an idyllic setting for a vacation, or a luxurious full-time residence.

A member of the Democratic Party, Feinstein, who just turned 88, is the nation’s oldest serving senator. Elected in 1992, she was the first female senator from California.

Feinstein had served earlier as both a city supervisor and as mayor. In 1978, after San Francisco Mayor George Moscone and her fellow supervisor, Harvey Milk, were assassinated, she stepped in as acting mayor, while she was president of the Board of Supervisors. The first female mayor of San Francisco, she held the role until 1988.

Feinstein also maintains a residence in the posh Pacific Heights neighborhood of San Francisco, not far from her fellow power-broker, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.

Trinkie Watson with Chase International-Tahoe City holds the listing.
