Former New York Giants defensive end Chris Canty is hoping to catch a buyer for his massive mansion in northern New Jersey. The Bronx native’s digs are going for $3.99 million. He purchased the custom residence in 2009 for $4.9 million, according to realtor.com® records, so a sale will leave him punting on a profit.

The brick Colonial manor offers six bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms across 10,000 square feet, on nearly an acre on a desirable street in upscale Alpine, NJ.

The impressive two-story foyer leads into a layout with architectural woodwork, expansive windows, and a total of six fireplaces, according to the listing details. The floor plan features a great room with vaulted ceilings and a wet bar, as well as a formal living room and a dining room with custom built-ins.

The massive gourmet kitchen includes a center island, gas cooktop, double stoves, a casual dining area, and a butler’s pantry with plenty of storage.

On the second level, the master suite has dual walk-in closets and a sitting room with a fireplace. The master bath includes a large steam shower and Jacuzzi tub. The floor also includes three more bedrooms and bathrooms, as well as a wood-paneled library or office.

On the lower level, the walkout space features a large wine cellar, movie theatre, rec room with bar, bedroom or office with a fireplace, and an elevator to all three floors.

The property comes with a large, grassy lawn, a three-car garage, and a full house generator.

While in college at the University of Virginia, the athlete was the two-time, second-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection in 2004, the year he graduated.

In 2005, Canty, 37, was drafted in the fourth round (132nd overall pick) by the Dallas Cowboys. He played with the team until 2008. During his time with the Giants, he became a Super Bowl Champion in 2011, defeating the New England Patriots. His playing days came to an end with the Baltimore Ravens in 2015.

At the moment, Canty is co-hosting a sports radio show on ESPN, “DiPietro, Canty & Rothenberg,” which covers New York sports.
