A Cape Cod-style home in Newport Beach, CA, was a big hit with infielder Zack Cozart and his wife, Chelsea, when he played with the Los Angeles Angels.

They now have high hopes that it will score just as big with a new owner. It’s on the market for $4.7 million and has an offer already in place.

The sparkling home was originally built in 1961, and has been fully renovated over the last decade. Open and bright, the home has it all, according to the listing agent, Steve Mino of Coldwell Banker Realty.

He tells us it has been “beautifully remodeled, with a sprawling, open floor plan.”

Mino also notes that the six-bedroom, 5,138-square-foot home is “in one of the best locations in Mariners School district, and is also close to Newport beaches, shopping, and riding trails.”

The home has much more going for it than simply a beachy-keen location.

The wide-open floor plan opens right out to the well-manicured backyard, through “infinity doors” that transition from the great room onto a breezy patio.

At one end of that great room is an open gourmet chef’s kitchen, with high-end features. Highlights include custom Calacatta marble counters, a handmade Spanish-tile backsplash, open shelving, a walk-in pantry, and what some consider to be the ultimate kitchen luxury—a built-in Miele espresso maker.

Also conveniently located on the main floor is a swanky master suite, with grand double doors.

The retreat features a custom sliding barn door, leading to a sizable walk-in closet, and a bathroom covered in Calacatta gold marble, with a sparkling crystal chandelier for illumination.

Multiple French doors on the first floor lead out to a spacious backyard surrounded by stately cypress trees.

The highlight of the space is a pool with fountains, a Baja shelf, and an elevated spa with a spillover. Elegant built-in booth seating wraps around a gas fire pit.

Cozart, 35, made his big league debut with the Cincinnati Reds in 2011. He played seven seasons with the Reds, before signing a three-year, $38 million contract with the Angels before the 2018 season.

He purchased his Newport Beach home in 2019 for $4.1 million. However, his time with the Angels was interrupted by injuries, and he wound up playing only parts of two seasons with the club. Now retired, he also has another home in his native Tennessee.
