Offers rolled in quickly for a Virginia home completely remodeled and redecorated by the interior designer Lauren Liess.

“The goal was to go live on the market on a Thursday, and then work through only pre-qualified buyers,” explains the listing agent, Daan De Raedt. “We had a ton of showings lined up, and then we were reviewing offers by Sunday. The owners picked the best one, and now we’re under contract.”

The home in Great Falls, VA, was built in 1979, and landed on the market in early March for $2.5 million. Liess and her husband, David, lived in the home with their family.

“It’s an Alsatian-style home. You don’t really find homes like that over here. The whole inside has basically been fully remodeled over the last few years,” De Raedt says.

Lauren had a show on HGTV called “Best House on the Block.” The couple renovated and designed homes in the Washington, DC, area using a style they call “relaxed luxury.”

Liess also applied her know-how to this formerly rundown home.

“She’s the one that completely renovated and had the vision for the property and worked through that. It was a dilapidated old property,” De Raedt says.

The home took a few years to renovate, and Liess took care to keep some of the home’s original features—like the beams along the living room ceiling.

“It still has the character of an old home, but inside, it’s basically all brand-new, with the old features intact,” De Raedt says. “Not a lot of people are willing to put in the time, the effort, and the money to bring a property up to speed the way the Liesses did. That’s what makes it so special and different.”

Their aesthetic hews toward a natural feeling expressed in the use of wood throughout and the warm palette.

“If you were to look at some of the other homes she’s done or lived in, it’s more of a natural look, versus a sleek, modern style,” De Raedt says.

There are five bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms on 5,600 square feet, with room to spread out: The home sits on almost 6 acres of land.

In addition to the interiors, De Raedt says the appeal of the property lies in its bucolic feel. It has a private pond, as well as a creek.

“It just offers a lot of a lot of different things that most properties don’t have. In my opinion, that’s really what makes that property just unbelievable,” he says. “It’s unique, because it’s close to Washington, DC, but it has a lot of land.”

Great Falls is known for having more space and land, but is still close enough to commute to DC.

It’s now time for the Liess family to move on to something new.

“I know when they bought the place, it was kind of their forever home, but I think things change,” De Raedt says. “I think they’re looking at new opportunities and some exciting stuff that’s in the works.”
