A perfectly preserved midcentury modern home in Portland, OR, featured in the TV show “Shrill” has come on the market for $639,000.

Don’t bet on it selling at that price, which seems like a bargain basement rate compared to homes in California of a similar era.

After only a week, the famous home has already been scheduled for 70 showings and has multiple offers, according to the listing agent, Lori Fenwick with Premiere Property Group.

Fenwick says that the amount of attention from potential buyers is probably due to the show, where the property features as the home of the parents of the main character, Annie, played by Aidy Bryant.

“It’s unlike what a lot of people see in Portland,” she says.

In addition to its star turn on the Hulu show, the four-bedroom home, built in 1959, has a prestigious pedigree. Known as the Wedgwood Home of Tomorrow, the 1,650-square-foot residence was designed by the architect William Fletcher.

Its futuristic features include an open floor plan and built-in appliances—from the sound system to the kitchen blender.

Decorative room dividers are another eye-catching feature of the home. There’s also a built-in scale, which might raise an eyebrow from Bryant’s character, Annie.

The home also garnered attention when it was featured on Restore Oregon’s architectural tour, as well as by the magazine Portland Monthly, according to Fenwick.

The current owners bought the property in 2015 for $450,000 and have also offered a guest suite in the home on Airbnb.

“Live like a Jetson! Private suite and courtyard,” the listing beckons.

The show-stopping design features floor-to-ceiling windows, a one-of-a kind floating fireplace, and cork floors. An atrium and courtyard help add to the sunny and serene space. Outside, the quarter-acre lot offers a covered patio, lawn, and landscaping.

“Shrill,” set in Portland, just wrapped its third season. It’s based on a memoir by Lindy West.

“We wanted the parents to have a lot of personality and not feel hyper buttoned-up or suburban,” Bryant told Architectural Digest, in discussing the choice of the home.

“We were scouting houses and looked at so many cool midcentury modern houses. And when we saw that one, we felt right away that it had a personality,” she added.

“You could feel that life had been lived there—you could feel the decades. That’s what we loved about that space.”

Potential buyers may want to keep in mind that the home may remain in the spotlight, as fans of “Shrill” search it out. Perhaps new owners may want to keep the income flowing with the Airbnb rental.

The owners love the home, but have decided to move on to a new project, Fenwick notes. While they lived there, they spruced it up, installed new cork and vinyl flooring, and added a back deck. They were careful to keep the elements in tune with the original era.

“It’s just such a special home all around,” Fenwick says.
