What was your most interesting job before going into real estate? Interesting?! I worked at Enterprise Rent-A-Car for almost three years, and I thought I wanted something a little more slow paced, so I got a job working as an insurance liability adjuster. Yeah, that lasted about 7-8 months.
Where did you grow up? I’m from Brooklyn, NY. Born and raised.
Growing up, what did you want to be? Funny enough in high school, I was pretty confident about going to school for commercial real estate (which I didn’t) or play basketball in the NBA (which I also didn’t. lol).
What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? Having a music background, I just started learning how to play the saxophone. It’s my form of therapy! It allows me to detach from everything going on for a minute or two.
If you could meet any well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why? Can I pick two? First it would be Kevin Garnett because he was my favorite basketball player growing up, and his intensity around the game of basketball was next level. Number two would be the late Kobe Bryant. I was always amazed at his well rounded knowledge about anything. Sports, business, etc…. who knows how many topics we’d talk about.
What is Atlanta’s best-kept secret? I think sometimes being in Atlanta, you can forget about the cultural diversity of food here. There’s not a lot of different food you can’t find here if not in ATL/Perimeter area.
What do you love most about the industry? The thing I love most about the industry is we truly get to help people. Everyone situation will be different but we get to provide solutions and that’s awesome. Also, my colleagues. We all had different paths to get here but it’s pretty cool to see everyone trying to help each other succeed.
How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents? For me, I try to focus on the clients needs and how I can assist them in creating a solution. Also, being genuine I want to try and learn a thing or two from you and see how I can connect with you personally.
What is the most difficult aspect of your job? I’d say on some days, not having enough time. Being a solo Realtor has pros and cons and some days you notice it more than others but everything falls on your shoulders. I would say administrative work. If you don’t block time to catch up on those things, you’ll also have work to do. My motto now is simple, if it’s not on your calendar, you probably won’t do it.
What’s your best advice for generating new leads? There’s always someone you know that’s looking to “buy or sell” a home or they know someone that’s going to do that. Let your closet friends know that you’re a Realtor and remind them. For some strange reason, they forget from time to time. Plus, it’s free! Also, know who you’re targeting, because if you know who you’re targeting, it’ll give you better insight on where to spend marketing dollars.
What are you binge-watching/reading/listening to lately? Books: I’m actually reading “Shift” by Gary Keller; TV: My wife and I just finished binge watching a show called “Dynasty” on Netflix. It was a random show but we enjoyed the drama. lol; Music: Maverick City and Upper Room just released an album recently. It’s a good one. Check it out!
What’s your favorite meal in Atlanta? As of late: chicken and waffles. But a CLOSE second is the Curry Veggie Deluxe Plate from Mangos Caribbean Restaurant.
Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Atlanta? I like the design of Mercedes Benz Stadium.
What’s the weirdest thing that’s ever happened to you on the job? When I first started in real estate, door knocking was quite … interesting to say the least, but I don’t want to creep anyone out. lol
What’s one thing people are surprised to learn about you? That I’m super competitive and very vocal when it comes to sports. I’m a pretty laidback person.
What is your favorite vacation spot and why? My favorite vacation spot right now is Savannah. I feel like at some point in our lives me and my wife will either have property there or live there … or both! It’s a great city, good food, lots to do there, great weather, and there’s palm trees there. I’m a northerner so anytime I see palm trees, I’m sold!
What is your favorite city after Atlanta? Savannah and Charleston, SC
In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry? Get a mentor, learn, adjust, grow, evaluate, and repeat!
