After a year on the market and several price cuts, the last home where the late comedian Robin Williams lived before he died in 2014 has sold for $5.3 million.

Williams, a movie star and king of stand-up comedy, purchased the waterfront property in the Tiburon, CA, enclave of Paradise Cay for $4.05 million in 2008, according to realtor.com®

After his headline-grabbing death at the age of 63, his wife, Susan Schneider Williams, inherited the home. In 2019, she put the place on the market for $7.25 million.

But the one-story contemporary failed to find a buyer at that price, so the ask was trimmed to $6,950,000 in early 2020, and then shaved down again to $6,795,000 in April.

The home came back on the market in July with a new price point of $5,995,000. That was low enough to attract a buyer, who closed at the even lower amount.

The comedian’s former abode is seriously nice. Measuring 6,517 square feet, the six-bedroom, 6.5-bathroom layout on a two-lot parcel overlooks the San Francisco Bay from most rooms.

The floor plan features a spacious living room, formal dining room, and eat-in kitchen, as well as a media room where you can catch a classic Williams flick, such as “Mrs. Doubtfire” or “Good Will Hunting.”

The master suite, with bay views and direct access to a back deck, includes two walk-in closets, a master bathroom and dark wood study. In addition, there are two more en suite bedrooms and a kids’ bunkroom.

Outside, an ample deck runs along the back of the home, with numerous access points, to create an ideal indoor-outdoor living space. Multiple seating areas and a dining area are all set around the pool. With direct access to the bay, the home features built-in racks to keep your kayaks and paddleboards handy.

Other amenities include a laundry room, an en suite au pair unit, three-car garage, and a bonus space for an office, studio, or sixth bedroom.

Together with his comedy legacy, Williams left behind a home renovated with personal touches, like the pool—which the actor lengthened, so he could swim laps. The couple picked out the poolside sculpture of a swimmer.

Clearly, the home has sentimental as well as financial value. The Compass agents Penny Wright-Mulligan and Haley Wright finally found the right fit for the home, satisfying both buyer and seller. The two agents represented both sides of the transaction.

The deal was sealed on Nov. 13. Wright-Mulligan, who raised her children in the Paradise Cay enclave, noted that deep knowledge of the area was a plus in connecting with a buyer.

“I think knowing the community so well helped us find the perfect buyer. We also made a lifestyle video, showcasing the unique qualities of living in the Cay,” she says.

“We were honored to represent both buyer and seller, so we really got to know this lovely family that will cherish this home and make their own memories for many years.”

She adds, “This was important for Susan Williams, that the buyer understand and appreciate how special this home really is. There was a lot of love and joy in this home for Robin and Susan here. She told us that would have made Robin very happy!”
