Arizona's Most Expensive Home

Arizona’s most expensive home offers a potent combination of resort-style amenities and amazing views—all part of a $27.5 million package.

The huge home on N. 110th Way in Scottsdale measures 15,000 square feet and sits on nearly 5 acres of arid desert land, with unobstructed mountain views.

“When you first walk in, you take a deep breath, because you’re staring out the windows, and all you see are views, views, views,” says the listing agent, Lisa Westcott.

Although the residence is undoubtedly huge, it feels like a home, says Westcott.

“It’s modern elegance, but it makes you feel comfortable,” she says. “Sometimes when you walk into some of these larger homes, you feel like you can’t touch anything—like in a museum. This home doesn’t feel like that. It’s very inviting.”

The mansion has six bedrooms and 8.5 bathrooms and certainly has the sheen of a luxury hotel, with its fine finishes and amenities.

“It doesn’t feel like a hotel. It’s very elegant and cozy and very livable,” Westcott explains. “It’s not obnoxious, by any means. It’s very functional, great for entertaining, and great for private family events. It accommodates everyone.”

The home was finished in 2017, and was designed by the architect Dale Gardon. The style is a riff on modern Mediterranean, and incorporates the indoor and outdoor living style popular in Arizona.

“There are pocket doors that open up, so if you’re entertaining, you can open those doors and go straight out into the main outdoor living area,” Westcott says.

Most of the living spaces are on the main level, including the master suite. The guest suites are upstairs, in two different parts of the house.

“There are two sets of staircases that take you up to different areas. One takes you up to two en suite bedrooms, one with its own living area,” Westcott explains.

The other upstairs area has another guest suite, a bunkroom, and a large gym.

All the bathrooms but the one in the bunkroom have French-limestone heated flooring and steam showers, Westcott says.

Heated flooring is unheard of in Arizona, she says, adding that although it may not be necessary to use it often, “It does come in handy when we have our cold days and cold nights here.”

Back on the main level, the kitchen sits at the end of a large living space. It features stainless-steel appliances, two large islands, and plenty of seating, both at an island and a nearby table. The dining room is just steps away.

The butler’s pantry offers storage, a wine cellar, refrigerator, and freezer. There’s also an additional food storage area.

“They created an extra storage room that they call ‘the Costco closet,’ because it’s so large and it stores so much,” Westcott notes. “You could have as much stored in there as you want, and you’d never have to leave your property.”

Most of the indoor spaces, including the kitchen, lead directly to the pool area.

“The outdoor kitchen is probably the nicest I have ever seen,” Westcott says. “The outdoor kitchen flows over to the pool, the spa, the fireplaces. It’s very central to the whole house, so very easy to access.”

The outdoor dining area has a refrigerator, freezer, icemaker, and heaters in the ceiling.

The pool is 14 feet deep and is one of the of the largest in the area, with a number of seating areas and fountains, as well as a spa.

Off the pool is a large casita, ideal for guests.

“It has a bedroom that flows into its own living area, and then it has dual closets, dual water closets, and a view of an outdoor courtyard,” Westcott says. “The shower is also luxurious, with at least six shower-heads.”

Outside, the six garage spaces are all heated and air-conditioned.

The house is in the prestigious, gated Silverleaf neighborhood, with two additional gates securing the home, one near the entrance to the property and the second closer to the motorcourt.

The home is nevertheless close to shops, restaurants, and golf.

“I feel like the perfect buyer is going to be somebody who is used to this style and architecture, that wants the views, the space, and the privacy,” Westcott says.

“The buyer is going to be someone who is accustomed to the quality that this house has to offer. It truly could be your own private getaway. It’s like your own private resort. You would never have to leave.”
