Cortland hires Waterton research president

Atlanta-based apartment investor and developer Cortland hired Waterton President of Research and Strategy Lee Everett as head of research.

In his new role, Everett will work with Cortland’s executive, investments and capital markets teams to formulate the firm’s overall research strategy, with a focus on macroeconomic trends, residential supply and demand dynamics and market selection. He will also advise on individual investment and portfolio-management decisions.

Before Waterton, Everett served as director of market planning for Benchmark Senior Living. He also worked at CoStar Portfolio Strategy, The Concord Group Real Estate Advisors and Boston Financial Investment Management.

“It’s crucial for Cortland to remain ahead of future trends affecting the broader economy and multifamily industry,” Cortland President of Investment Management Jason Kern said in a press release. “Given his significant experience evaluating the impact of macro- and micro-economic factors on the real estate industry, we look forward to seeing the positive impact Lee will have on our business.”
