French-Themed Home in Washington State Needs a Buyer To Say ‘Oui’

A house on more than 14 acres in Liberty Lake, WA, features an unexpected combination of European charms. Here, you can sip espresso like you would in a Parisian cafe. Maybe you’d rather read under a tree? Or perhaps you’d like to spot wildlife on a safari?

In this French-themed abode, you can do it all—and indoors, no less! The one-of-a-kind house is on the market for $1,250,000. Completed in 2007, it has three bedrooms and three baths.

“It is surprising because the outside of the home looks like your average house on an acreage, and then you step inside and … it’s superfun,” says listing agent Lynsey Cantlon, with Keller Williams Spokane–Main.

The inside is meant to replicate a street scene in Paris.

The sellers are Bridget and Dave Strasser. Bridget is an artist and painted everything herself. Cantlon adds that she put her heart and soul into every detail.

Listed in March, the 3,565-square-foot home recently got a $25,000 price cut. Will it be enough to entice a buyer?

“I felt like I stepped into another world,” says Cantlon, recalling the first time she saw the place. “It has the most magical feel. You step inside, and you love it. You have to experience it for yourself because it’s so much better than the pictures.”

The kitchen is set inside a gazebo.

From Paris with love

A Parisian street scene on and around the staircase feels like the real thing, with vintage lamp posts and a papier-mache tree in the living room. The kitchen is nestled into a gazebo.

Cantlon believes the perfect buyer is someone who will appreciate the interior and “loves the whimsy and lightness” of life.

“Who doesn’t want to sit down and sip wine at a bistro table like you’re in a French cafe, and actually feel like you’re there?” she muses.

But the fun doesn’t end in France.

“In the primary suite, there is a huge elephant, and it’s kind of safari themed,” Cantlon notes. “It’s a reflection of [the seller’s] personality.”

The home sits on more than 14 acres.

‘It was my dream’

Cantlon says some people can’t see past the style, but the house is exactly how the sellers wanted it. Vive la France? More like viva Las Vegas.

“It was my dream to have an all-themed house,” owner Bridget Strasser explains. “We went to Las Vegas and stayed at the Paris Hotel, and it really inspired me to have the inside look like outside. It’s also great to look at in the winter months. As far as the safari theme, I just like it.”

Cantlon admits the art isn’t for everyone and says other brokers have told her to tone things down a bit to appeal to a bigger pool of buyers.

“The sellers know this, but they’re not ready for that,” Cantlon says. “It’s like her masterpiece. She’s holding out for that person that’s going to love it the way it is.”

And if that doesn’t happen?

Well, Cantlon has a reminder for a buyer who might be on the fence: “For the most part, it’s just paint.”
