Tech titan Eric Schmidt, a past Google CEO, has listed his incredible Atherton, CA, estate for $24.5 million, the San Jose Mercury News reports.

Meticulously designed, the five-bedroom, eight-bath house has 5,265 square feet on 3 acres. In fact, the property takes up three contiguous parcels in the country’s most expensive zip code. Quite the distinction!

This lavish abode was built in 1969 and is known as the Walsh Estate. It last changed hands in 1990 for $2 million, according to Realtor.com®.

A sight to see

This European-inspired beauty is unmatched in its elegance.

The extra-wide, arched front door to the main house leads into a spacious foyer with a dramatic staircase and pretty wallpaper.

A formal living room—with a sleek, white fireplace and outdoor access—is one of the home’s many places to sit and relax.

Meanwhile, the gourmet kitchen has a custom marble counter, two sinks, two dishwashers, and a Thermador Professional range. The adjacent breakfast nook has a bay window and a door that gives way to a pristine patio.

For more formal get-togethers, dinner can be served in the dining room, which has a curved window overlooking the pool out back.

Next-level luxury

Retire at the end of the day in one of the relaxing bedrooms. The primary sleep space has an en suite bathroom with a dressing room, marble shower, dual water closets, and a lovely soaking tub. A private terrace rounds out the main suite.

Additional rooms include a ground-floor study with a fireplace, plus a family room with a wet bar. There’s also a laundry room and two additional offices—one with a powder room and a skylight.

In 2007, the sellers completed an extensive remodel that included an expansion in the main house and the addition of a guesthouse.

This one-bedroom, one-bath structure boasts an open living room and kitchen layout with a fireplace. It also has accordion doors to a breathtaking stone terrace with a rose arbor. The fairy-tale feel is real here.

An imported greenhouse

The backyard is reminiscent of an English countryside estate, with a sweet garden and views of rolling hills.

It’s all beautiful, but the crown jewel might be the greenhouse—complete with a farm sink and cedar shelves imported from the United Kingdom.

In order to do this, the owners added a third parcel to the property.

“It is so rare to see this much land in Atherton, over 3 acres; but to spend time there and understand the thought and consideration that went into the current design, you realize how unique it really is,” says Compass agent Katharine Carroll. “Working with the elevation and hillside, the landscape design creates a feeling of peace but also provides a natural level of privacy not found in the flats of Atherton.”

A security house with a powder room and a service garage for equipment storage round out the property.

Schmidt, 69, was hired by Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin. He served as CEO for the the company from 2001-2011, then as executive chairman at Google and then at its parent company, Alphabet. Thanks to his work at the tech giant, he is said to be worth $24 billion.
