Comic book creator Todd McFarlane, best known for his work on “The Amazing Spider-Man” and the creation of “Spawn,” just picked up a Southern California pad.

While he has long been based in the Phoenix area, McFarlane’s continued work in Hollywood makes this pied-à-terre a logical (and luxe) choice.

He bought the Spanish Colonial Revival estate in leafy Altadena, CA, for $3,838,472.

Situated at the foot of the mountains above Pasadena, the home sprawls over nearly an acre of traditionally landscaped grounds. It was originally built in 1921 as the intended model estate for the Country Club Park subdivision.

He went on to found Image Comics, where he developed his Spawn character, which sold millions of copies and was adapted for a 1997 film starring Michael Jai White. McFarlane is currently on the verge of making his directorial debut with the “Spawn” reboot film, starring Jamie Foxx.
