Why Does Star QB Russell Wilson Have 2 Multimillion-Dollar Mansions on the Market?

Quarterback Russell Wilson has a number of multimillion-dollar decisions to make in the next several weeks.

All signs point to him being cut by the Denver Broncos in mid-March, with several other teams reportedly waiting to snap him up.

With his career in flux, it might behoove him to sell the two pricey mansions he owns—in the two NFL cities he’s called home. One of those luxe houses is in Bellevue, WA, purchased when he was starring for the Seattle Seahawks; and the other is in Denver. He picked up the place in the Mile High City in 2022, after being traded to the Broncos.

Wilson’s status with the Broncos deteriorated rapidly, and he was benched toward the end of the 2023 season. According to NBCSports.com, “When the Broncos benched quarterback Russell Wilson it quickly became obvious that they’ll cut him before his 2025 salary of $37 million becomes fully guaranteed on March 17.”

Most pundits predict that the Pittsburgh Steelers are the team most likely to pick up the 35 year old.

That would leave the Super Bowl champ as the not-so-proud owner of two mansions in cities where he’s no longer playing. The Denver Post reports that Wilson is quietly shopping his Cherry Hills Village mansion off market. He purchased that place in 2022 for $25 million. But his Seattle-area mansion has languished on the market for two years now.

The Bellevue mansion has been on and off the market since April 2022, shortly after he departed for the Rocky Mountains. Prices have ranged from $36 million to the current list price of $26 million. Wilson and his wife, Grammy-winning pop star Ciara, picked up the property for $6.7 million in 2015, in the midst of his Seahawks glory days.

The bluff-top estate overlooking Lake Washington measures 11,104 square feet and includes six bedrooms and five bathrooms. A dramatic foyer with a spiral staircase and crystal chandelier, plus distinctive living, dining, and family rooms, all with fireplaces, are among the home’s high-end features.

There’s also an office, a gym/yoga studio, posh lounge, home theater, game room, playroom, and a recording studio. Dazzling lake and city views, from nearly every room, are the icing on the cake.

The property sits on nearly 2 acres and features private gardens and beaches, along 270 feet of shoreline. There’s a tram that reaches the lake’s edge and a dock that can accommodate four vessels, including a 60-foot yacht.

When Wilson left the Pacific Northwest in 2022 and put the estate up for sale, it was the priciest listing in the state. Although the ask has been reduced by $10 million, a buyer has yet to emerge.

Although there’s no official listing for Wilson’s posh Denver digs, a recent Denver Post headline reads, “Russell Wilson accepting offers for Cherry Hills Village mansion as Broncos mull his future.”

It was the most expensive private residence ever sold in the Denver area when Russell purchased it in 2022 for $25 million.

The posh, Denver-area property is in the ritzy enclave known as Cherry Hills Village. The expansive, Tudor-style mansion sits on a 5.34-acre lot, measures in at a generous 20,060 square feet, and offers four bedrooms and 12 bathrooms.

Built in 2018, the mansion features a double-height entry with a spiral staircase, a living room with a stone-surround fireplace, a formal dining room, and a kitchen with a center island and seating.

There’s also a home theater, an indoor sports court, a bar, an office, a library, an indoor pool and spa, and a nine-car garage.

We should know where the Wilsons end up within the next few weeks. And we’re guessing they’ll choose to rent rather than buy while they settle into a new city—at least until one of their two other properties sells.
