$18.5M Mansion With Fighter-Jet Vibes Soars Onto the Market Near Las Vegas

Here’s an $18.5 million mansion that resembles a plane and feels as if it’s soaring over the Las Vegas Strip.

“There aren’t a lot of homes in Vegas where you get that king-of-the-mountain—or on-top-of-the-world feel; this is definitely one of them,” says Natalia Harris, who is listing the property with her husband, Ben Harris. Both are with Las Vegas Sotheby’s International Realty.

The 10,067-square-foot home in Henderson, NV, is nicknamed Albatros because of its unintentional resemblance to a Aero-L39 Albatros plane, which the home’s owners also own.

The sellers are both pilots and plane collectors. Harris notes that from the air, the home resembles a plane, which might have been a subconscious nod to the couple’s love of aviation.

“It almost looks like you have the tip of the nose of the plane and the wings where the pool goes out to a point,” Natalia Harris says. “There are a lot of sharp angles that kind of resemble the wings of an airplane.”

Beyond the home’s nods to flight, it is also blessed with a wide-open feel.

The builder “really does a lot of amazing things in the home where they bring the outside in and the inside out,” Harris says. “It really gives that sense of no barriers between indoor and outdoor in the home.”

Ceilings soar close to 30 feet in some places, and everything is designed around the views.

“The way the home was built, every part of it has that view,” Harris says. “You have it from multiple bedrooms. You have it from the living room, from the primary bedroom. There’s almost nowhere in the home where you don’t see beautiful Vegas scenes.”

There are seven possible bedrooms, with three currently being used for other purposes, including a gym and a home office space.

A primary suite is truly tucked away within the residence.

Harris says the unusual primary bedroom is her favorite feature of the home.

“The entrance to it is hidden to where you wave your hand to the wall, and the door opens up,” she says. “It’s like the secret doorway … and I haven’t seen anything like it. It’s pretty amazing.”

The suite comes with its own outdoor retreat that includes a spa with glass sliders that pocket on two sides.

“When you open the glass, you’re pretty much floating over Vegas,” Harris says.

Floating mirrors on the main bathroom vanities are also a striking design feature.

“Even when you’re brushing your teeth after your shower, you’ve still got views to look at,” she notes.

Outside, there’s a large infinity-edge pool and a spa, also surrounded by views. The pool water flows inside, near the three-story floating staircase.

It’s “supposed to help with mood and positive energy in the home,” Harris says of the design. “The way the water flows under the stairs, you still have that great visual when you’re in the living room, but it’s not something that intrudes into your everyday life.”

Everything within the house ties back to the views of the desert below.

“I was wowed from the second I stepped inside,” Harris recalls. “When you walk in, it’s like you’re in the cockpit of an airplane with a bird’s-eye view of all of Vegas. … As I continued to walk the home, as much as I was in love with all of the ‘wow’ features, I fell more and more in love with its functionality.”

All of the pocket doors are motorized, the floors are heated, and accent LED lighting is used throughout the residence.

“Sometimes, all these extra bells and whistles take away from the livability of the home, and I was just impressed that this home has all of these cool elements but is super functional,” Harris says.
