It looks like buyers didn’t monkey around when the late Michael Nesmith‘s former Carmel Valley, CA, home appeared on the market.

It took a decisive house hunter just 17 days to pony up $3,250,009 for the one-time residence of the soft-spoken member of the iconic made-for-TV band, The Monkees.

The three-bedroom, 3.5-bath home was listed in late November for $3.5 million.

Built in 1962 and mostly remodeled, the 3,365-square-foot, Central California ranch home is in Sleepy Hollow—an exclusive, gated neighborhood in the beautiful and tranquil Carmel Valley, minutes from Carmel Valley Village and about 20 miles inland from the coast of the oh, so posh seaside village of Carmel-by-the-Sea.

Nesmith was 78 when he died from heart failure in his Carmel Valley home in 2021.

His former residence includes nearly 6.5 acres of rolling lawns and hills dotted with trees. Also on the property is a large, sparkling pool with an inviting deck and plenty of patio space for entertaining or for serene, private enjoyment.

The home features numerous soaring skylights, windows, and sliders, which stream in abundant California sunshine and showcase the gorgeous views.

High, vaulted ceilings and walls are clad in light-hued paneling, which lends a spacious feel to the rooms.

There are impressive, wood-burning fireplaces in the family room and the living room, which flows into the dining room space.

The family room opens to the kitchen, where a three-seat breakfast bar and professional quality stainless-steel appliances await.

There’s also a one-bedroom, 650-square-foot guesthouse on the premises. It has a semiattached, 700-square-foot media studio, which Nesmith looks to have used for recording and playing music. However, it could easily be converted for other uses. Art studio or gym, perhaps?
