Seattle Home With Two Green Roofs

In Seattle‘s desirable Denny Blaine neighborhood, a contemporary manse built in 2018 is on the market for the first time.

The corner lot and its mature trees enticed the current owners to snap up the land in 2016 and build their four-bedroom dream home, says listing agent Scott Lennard, of Compass.

The $6,250,000 asking price makes this one of the most expensive listings in Seattle’s Central District.

“They loved the property because of the views,” Lennard says of the sellers.

And it’s easy to understand why. You can see the Cascade Mountains, Lake Washington, and Mount Rainier from the 4,840-square-foot house. Two green roofs offer a perfect perch for soaking in the surrounding natural beauty.

Foliage, fences, and hedges collectively envelop the sleek home inside its surroundings.

“The house is somewhat hidden,” Lennard notes. “It lives larger than you can see from the street. It feels very serene. There’s a lot of old, established Craftsman homes in the area … but it really blends in quite brilliantly.”

Designed by MW|Works and constructed by Dowbuilt, the home’s high-end amenities include a smart system with nine security cameras, an electric vehicle charger, and an invisible fence. Meanwhile, an outdoor shower and hot tub and an indoor sauna will appeal to wellness-minded buyers.

Lennard says everything in the house was “built to last.” That, and the home’s distinct warmth, make this a unique offering, he explains. It’s not cold and stark like many modern homes.

The sellers “like the concrete and the glass. But this is more thoughtful towards nature, really capitalizing on the lot,” Lennard explains.

Luxe kitchen appliances, floor-to-ceiling pocket doors, plus custom oak cabinetry and built-ins are woven into the design. Cedar was used throughout and enhances the cozy vibe.

“It’s just a great house for easy entertaining,” says Lennard, citing its open flow and indoor-outdoor design.

The layout also includes two courtyard gardens that coax in plenty of natural light.

What attracts people to this part of Seattle is the cross-section of two neighborhoods—Leschi and Madrona—and good public and private schools.

That said, the home is likeliest to appeal to a particular sort of buyer.

“Some luxury buyers are more interested in [lots of] space and splashes of marble and tile, but the way [the materials] complement each other may not be as thoughtful as this,” Lenner observes. “There’s a scale to the home. This is really built for easy and comfortable living without being ostentatious.”
