A three-story, spiral staircase; 1,000-bottle wine room; and 900-gallon aquarium are standout features in an enormous lake house in Lake Winnebago, MO.

Accordingly, the place is priced at $12.6 million.

But even with the outsized entertainment features, it can also be an inviting space for everyday living, the listing suggests.

“It’s really a home,” explains Linda Steeves-Haith, who is co-listing the property with Kristi Miller, both of Reece Nichols–Brookside. “You get a home feel from it, even though it’s got these beautiful features. I don’t feel anything was overlooked.”

The 16,814-square-foot home sits on a more-than-third-acre, lakeside lot.

The sellers custom built the home between 2007 and 2009, using high-end materials and finishes, including a wall of windows and 26-foot-high ceilings in the great room.

“They built it for family and for entertaining,” Steeve-Haith says. “They entertain almost every weekend all summer.”

The outdoor kitchen and deck area overlooks the lake and boasts a granite table that seats 22 people.

A foldable enclosure can be deployed seasonally over the pool, allowing year-round swimming.

The three-story home has six full bathrooms and five bedrooms, most of which enjoy lake views.

“It is very extraordinary, with the finishes on the floor and the entryway, where you walk in, and you see the beautiful wine room,” Steeves-Haith explains. “The seller wanted that to be a part of the home, and he didn’t want it down in a cellar. He wanted to have something that was inviting and a really wonderful thing to look at.”

The spectacular, dual-sided aquarium is right at home between the kitchen and great room.

“It’s stunning,” Steeves-Haith says. “It’s mesmerizing, honestly. It just like takes you away, like you’re somewhere else looking at all these beautiful fish.”

The ceilings in several rooms are especially unique, including an elaborate, wooden one in the dining room. A gym, game room, and a media room are among other highlights.

A three-story, stone staircase—topped by a glass dome—connects the home’s levels. Not in the mood to climb? Take the elevator.

“It’s designed to mimic a tree growing with the branches and the roots down on the bottom, with the branches reaching up,” Steeves-Haith explains.

While the house is undeniably large, Steeves-Haith observes that it doesn’t feel impractically oversized.

“It doesn’t feel big when you’re inside, because everything has a purpose and a reason and is functional,” she says.
