An adorable and affordable little home in Palm Springs, CA, rumored to have once been the makeup trailer for actor Desi Arnaz hit the market for just $150,000 in April. And already, the sweet spot has found a buyer.

Dubbed “Lucille” in honor of Arnaz’ one-time wife and “I Love Lucy” co-star, Lucille Ball, the one-bedroom home from 1954 features just 336 square feet of living space, including a full bathroom.

The petite property is tucked away in Horizon Mobile Village at the base of the Araby Trail located just below the iconic Bob Hope House.

“My client is a designer and bought the home as a passion project,” says listing agent Niko Esposito, of Paul Kaplan Group Palm Springs.

“When he purchased the home, several people told him Desi Arnaz bought it for his makeup artist. It sits directly below the Bob Hope House in Southridge. It sits on a private road with an amazing pedigree of homes around there. Steve McQueen had a house there as well,” Esposito adds, referring to the Hollywood star of the 1960s and ’70s.

About two years ago, the current owner decided to renovate the home while staying true to its classic, retro style.

“When he came upon it, the home was a vintage that needed a lot of work,” Esposito says. “He has a home in Palm Springs and, because he is a designer, he bought it as a project home. He did a phenomenal job renovating it. The space is just gorgeous. He gutted the whole thing and sanded it down to the metal.”

Palm Springs is known for its midcentury modern homes, so having this one feature the same time-capsule design was a real appeal to potential buyers.

“I have never had so many leads come through on a property before,” Esposito notes. “A lot of people adore vintage, and this one is just so well done. It basically looks new but reads like an authentic vintage. Of course, the price point was attractive as well. To get a brand-new home at this price is almost impossible.”

“We have had a variety of interest in the property from people of all ages. Some are just enthralled that Desi Arnaz and Lucy were in it. There are just so many reasons why people love it,” she adds. “It’s just a real unicorn, which is why it has gotten so much buzz.”
