The priciest listing in Washington state just hit the market for an astonishing $75 million.

Located on San Juan Island, the legacy property known as Halftide Farms sits on 87 acres and serves up unbelievable views of  Salish Sea and Mount Baker.

Featuring five different residences, each with its own guest cottage, the custom-built property has sport courts, a cabana with an outdoor kitchen, and a putting green.

And, naturally, there’s plenty more.

“This is a family compound with the average size of each of the homes around 4,000 square feet,” says listing agent Tere Foster, of Compass Bellevue. “Nothing is missing in these houses. They share a common area that includes two swimming pools, a tennis court, a pickle ball court, and four ponds—with some being used for irrigation.”

While the price tag is large, so is the property, which is set up for family gatherings.

There’s a 3,200-square-foot, four-bedroom bunkhouse designed for kids; a four-bedroom field house; a 4,200-square-foot, three-bedroom beach house; a 2,600-square-foot, three-bedroom caretaker’s house; and a building with a game room on the upper level and storage space for maintenance equipment on the bottom level.

The original, three-bedroom house on the property was built in 1994.

“This is truly a family compound,” Foster says.

There are four lots that total the 90 acres and 600 feet of water frontage.

“San Juan Island is a fabulous place,” Foster notes. “It is accessible by plane, boat, or ferry. It’s close to Canada and receives less rain and more sunshine than Seattle. The island’s population is only about 6,000 people. There are restaurants, a movie theater and a grocery store. It’s not on the ocean; it’s protected in a sound area, so people come from all over the world to boat here because it is very smooth sailing and is a very popular spot for boaters.”

She says the property has been “perfectly maintained” and is move-in ready.

“It’s really plug and play for someone who doesn’t want to make any changes,” she says. “Everything has been kept in terrific condition, and it is ready for a family to enjoy this summer.”

The original owner of the property was the late Barry Ackerley, who once owned the Seattle SuperSonics and the Seattle Storm basketball franchise. Three generations of his family have owned the beautiful compound.

“The property has been a secondary residence for this family, but it can certainly be a primary residence, as well,” Foster says. “Most who have looked at it own multiple homes across the world. I think the next buyer will be looking for a multigenerational property. I do believe this family will be replaced by another family looking for that special place out of the city where they can make wonderful family memories.”
