The rumors are true: The comedian and podcaster Joe Rogan has picked up a massive mansion on Lake Austin, TX.  While details of the off-market deal are hard to come by, the popular podcast host apparently paid $14.4 million for a sprawling waterfront property, Variety reports.

The host of “The Joe Rogan Experience” had been hinting that he planned to move his production from California to Texas, and the deed is finally done.

After announcing on his podcast that he’d be relocating to the Lone Star state to get away from the Los Angeles area, he added, “I just want to go somewhere in the center of the country, somewhere it’s easier to travel to both places, and somewhere where you have a little bit more freedom.”

Now that he’s inked a $100 million deal with Spotify, the Rogan experience will be coming at you from Texas.

Rogan recently posted a photo of his newly constructed recording studio, and announced on social media, “The Texas studio is complete and ready to roll.”

Built in 2008, Rogan’s private and gated waterfront estate is set on Lake Austin on nearly 4 acres, with 300 feet of water frontage, according to the original listing.

The parklike surroundings include “unobstructed, sweeping views of the lake and the undeveloped preserve land on the opposite side.”

The layout was recently revamped by its previous owners, the architectural designer Benjamin Wood and his wife, Theresa Castellano-Wood, according to Variety.

With a freshly spruced-up floor plan, the layout includes eight bedrooms and 10 bathrooms, on almost 11,000 square feet. The grounds also feature three docks, a pool, and terraces that flow from the living area.

Details include a formal dining room with built-ins, a dual-island kitchen with a casual eating area, and a living area with floor-to-ceiling windows that open outside.

The floor plan comes with an office with multicolored stained-glass windows, a master suite with a sitting area, and an en suite bathroom with free-standing tub. A gym can also be found on the grounds.

Sandra Bullock also reportedly owns a home in the desirable area. For celebs looking for an escape from the challenges of urban living, Austin has a lot to offer.

“It’s much more private. There isn’t a culture of celebrity,” says Brian Linder, with The Value of Architecture at Compass. He works with buyers and sellers in both Central Texas and California, and is currently helping a celebrity client purchase a place nearby.

“A celeb can have a low-key lifestyle,” he says. He notes that in the Lake Austin area, which offers serene surroundings lakeside, you can be close to downtown without being not close to other houses.

It’s still a quick flight to L.A. Rogan has reportedly said he would continue to fly his guests out from L.A. for interviews at his new location.

In 1988, Rogan began his career in comedy in the Boston area. After acting on shows like “NewsRadio,” he went on to host the hit NBC show “Fear Factor,” from 2001 through 2006.

He’s also well-known as a color commentator and interviewer for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

In 2009, he launched his popular podcast, “The Joe Rogan Experience.” In the middle of the pandemic, Rogan signed a deal with Spotify worth an estimated $100 million, to bring his podcast to the global audio streaming service.

Rogan continues to own a swanky, six-bedroom contemporary home in Bell Canyon, CA, which he purchased in 2018 for $4.95 million.
