With a private dock and new kitchen, this 4,353-square-foot home hugs nearly 200 feet of Tampa Bay’s waterfront and enjoys unobstructed views.

The midcentury modern dwelling comes with a distinguished architectural pedigree: It was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright protege Sanford Goldman.

The St. Petersburg, FL, property is on the market for $7,800,000.

“The house is an iconic piece,” says listing agent Jason Maniecki, of All Pro Realty Network.

Notable architect

Built in 1964, the house is set on a perch within the Snell Island Brightwaters community—an island with just 10 homes.

The homeowner, Kevin Chadwick, is a fan of Goldman.

“He is a notable architect that literally studied with Wright—not just at the [Frank Lloyd Wright] Institute—but a 12-month apprenticeship,” says Chadwick, who is also a real estate agent. He bought the home in 2010 for $1,063,000, according to Realtor.com®.

“The house was literally 1964 vintage—nothing had changed,” Chadwick recalls of the home’s condition.

He consulted with Goldman before diving into renovations, which included kitchen upgrades and swapping out blue tile for neutral-toned, Jerusalem stone flooring.

Many Floridians and Wright fans are aware of the local architect‘s modern works.

“He has a handful of homes that are also notable,” Chadwick says.

‘A special house’

The home’s new appliances and kitchen cabinetry came from Bright Wood Works in Tampa.

Stacked-stone walls and a floating staircase, both classic midcentury modern elements, were used in the home’s design.

There are four bedrooms and 4.5 baths, and a soaking tub and private deck lend an air of luxury to the second-floor primary suite.

Downstairs, a spacious living room is linked by a glass partition to an outdoor pool—perfect for seamless entertaining.

The house also includes a bonus room, which could be used as a gym or office.

“The footprint of the house is exactly the way it was when [Goldman] built it,” Chadwick says. “All of the craftsmanship and woodwork is original. The moment you step into this house, [you see] it’s artistic. You know it’s a special house.”

The home is within easy driving (or boating) distance to the Salvador Dali Museum, the Chihuly Collection, St. Pete Pier, and plenty of shops and restaurants.
