An award-winning architectural design in Manhattan Beach, CA, is a showstopper of a beach house.

The concrete, steel, and glass home offers unobstructed ocean views.

“I’ve never seen anything like it,” says Lauren Forbes with Compass. She’s co-listing the home with Todd Jones of Rodeo Realty. “There are two separate wings on the top that almost look like trains or beautiful glass buildings that are separated.”

One of the home’s most striking details is its outdoor entertaining space, which is positioned between the wings.

“It’s completely open to the sky, because there’s no building on top of that yard area,” Forbes notes.

The home was designed in 1996 by architect Gerald Horn and is listed for $7,499,000.

‘Piece of art’

“The house itself is like a piece of art,” Forbes says. “There are tons of windows, and the ceilings are curved with these metal beams up above. … Everything is amplified because of the light and the way it is laid out.”

The 3,643-square-foot house has three bedrooms and three full bathrooms.

“The primary bathroom has windows that go all the way into the wall and push open into a private outdoor patio, which has a direct view to the ocean,” Forbes says. “You’re actually getting an indoor-outdoor, spalike bathroom.”

A new kitchen and main bath were part of the home’s recent interior remodel.

“It was incredible when it was originally built, but then the current owner put over a million dollars into it, upgrading and updating it to today’s standards,” Forbes adds.

Renovations aside, the home’s picturesque locale is possibly its most alluring feature.

“It’s walking distance to the beach and to the town,” Forbes says. “The street itself is only three blocks long; and a lot of people don’t even know about it, because it’s such a small street, so nobody really travels on it if they don’t live there. You’re in close proximity to everything.”

And while it’s a nearly all-glass dwelling, the home is still plenty private.

“You can’t see into it because of the way it sits on the lot,” Forbes explains.
