A house designed specifically for sports fans who want to have a wee bit of fun is soon to be under contract.

The quirky home in a great location of Ferndale, MI, had a list price of $165,000. The place quickly found internet fame, thanks to its two urinals in the kitchen. Yes, the kitchen—built into the wet bar. Really.

The buzzy party pad, which was built in 1958, became the most popular home on Realtor.com®.

“The urinals seem to be the biggest hit on the internet right now,” says listing agent Heidi Wilson, with KW Advantage. “Those are unique. It’s a first for me, and I’ve seen lots of houses.”

Also of note for committed party people: The home has a beer tap on that wet bar that connects to a Kegerator with multiple lines.

The 972-square-foot home has three bedrooms and one very unique bathroom that keeps the fun going—even when you’re going.

It “has a throne-style surround for the toilet, with a beer tap on it,” Wilson says.

But that’s not all. The shower includes a protected space for a TV and a Jaegermeister dispenser—important amenities for sports fans who don’t want bathroom business to get in the way of celebrating a touchdown or a three-point shot.

‘Ultimate sports fan’

The seller bought the house in 2010 and made some, ahem, unique additions.

“My client is the ultimate sports fan, and he literally wanted to make sure that he was never going to miss a play,” Wilson explains. “The house is a place to have fun and is what he designed.”

The living room has a removable platform for stadium seating, and the backyard boasts a basketball court emblazoned with the Detroit Lions logo.

Needless to say, the kitchen urinals attracted a stream of online traffic.

“I was pretty surprised,” Wilson admits. “It was good attention for the property. It is kind of entertaining to both me and the seller. There’s probably not another house out there with urinals in the kitchen.”

Quirks aside, the home has good bones and is in a great location—near downtown Ferndale and across the street from a park.

And for a buyer who is peeved by the bathroom fixtures in the kitchen, removal would not be difficult, Wilson assures.

“At first, I thought we were going to have to find a really unique buyer,” she says, in an understatement. “But … the urinals are easily removable because they are not fully plumbed and are a waterless style. Then you get a great spot for barstools for an eat-in kitchen.”

Urinals notwithstanding, multiple offers on the home came in quickly.

It’s “a supercute house,” Wilson insists. “There’s not a lot that actually needs to be done if the buyer prefers not to have all those unique features. It’s not going to be that difficult for them to make a few adjustments and have it as a great house.”
