This homeowner did just that. And after 10 years of renting to a mix of sports fans and vacationers, the owner of this Green Bay, WI, is ready to let go of this prime piece of real estate.

The city’s median listing price is $235,000, but home prices soar the closer you get to Lambeau Field, the home stadium for the Packers. This particular listing is about as close as you can get. It’s located on South Oneida Street, where it meets Lombardi Avenue, and across the street from Lambeau Field.

On game day, many homeowners in the area rent out their lawn or driveways or—for an even larger sum—their entire home.

“The market for this has grown in the last 10 years,” says listing agent Julia Wesa, of Keller Williams Green Bay. “There are so many [of these types of properties] around the area.”

In 2003, the current seller bought the 2,048-square-foot home for $100,000. In 2021, the sports-themed abode came on the market for $1,300,00. The current price represents a $100,001 discount.

For the part of the house that’s been available as a rental, the owner has tricked it out with Packers paraphernalia, including bed linens, throw pillows, rugs, carpets, camper chairs, wall art, a shower curtain, and refrigerator magnets.

Many of the walls are painted in the team colors of green and gold, naturally. All of this, including TVs, is included in the sale, making it the ultimate piece of football memorabilia.

Built in 1967, the home includes a two-car garage and can sleep up to 20 people, according to Wesa. On the outdoor patio are brick walls, stamped concrete, furniture, a minifridge, and a built-in grill.

Contributing to the area’s demand for nightly rentals is the rising number of events hosted at Lambeau, including concerts and other non-NFL sports.

To help guide the next owners in renting out the home on game days, the seller has agreed to assist with the transition by sharing her knowledge of parking cars efficiently on the property and hosting a proper tailgate party.

In the off-season, guests seek out the rental for fishing outings and girlfriend getaways, given the proximity to Door County, a popular vacation destination.

“The futuristic value of that property is amazing,” Wesa says.
