After successfully selling her mansion in Hendersonville, TN, last month, Kelly Clarkson has tuned into a Los Angeles-area land grab.

The “Breakaway” songstress recently purchased a noteworthy estate in the Toluca Lake neighborhood for $5,445,000, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Built in 1936, the Colonial-style home last sold for $4.9 million in 2018. It returned to market in 2020, with a price bump up to $5.6 million. The pricey property never budged from that price point, until Clarkson won the residence.

Set on just over an acre, the offering includes five bedrooms and seven bathrooms on 5,000 square feet.

Renovated in 1985, the estate includes a main house, guesthouse, pool, and lighted tennis court. In addition, the property is gated with hedges to provide “ample privacy,” the listing asserts.

Entering the front door from the motor court, the center hall connects the entertaining rooms, including a great room with a stone fireplace, dining room with covered terrace, living room, and library, all with fireplaces.

A great room opens through French doors to the lushly landscaped backyard, with two open lawns, tennis court and pavilion, new pool and spa, as well as a guesthouse with full kitchen and bathroom.

Off the great room is the open chef’s kitchen, with stainless-steel appliances, marble counters, and brick flooring. Adjoining the kitchen is a light-filled octagonal, glassed-in breakfast room.

Upstairs, five en suite bedrooms fill the floor, including the master suite, which boasts a fireplace, midnight kitchen, office, master bathroom, and two walk-in closets.

The “rare offering” is located in one of L.A.’s “most discreet neighborhoods,” the listing notes. John Michael Iglar of Douglas Elliman represented the property.

Clarkson also recently bid farewell to some major real estate. Her Tennessee property—which had been on the market for four years and had undergone multiple price cuts—finally sold for $6.3 million.

She and her now-estranged husband, Brandon Blackstock, purchased the place outside Nashville for $2.86 million in 2012. They proceeded to pour money into renovations and then sought a significant upside, returning it to market five years later for $8.75 million.

In 2019, the price for the waterfront, 20,000-square-foot estate on over 4 acres was slashed significantly, to $7.5 million.

When that price failed to generate interest, the price was cut yet again earlier this year, to $6.95 million, which attracted a buyer at the lower price point.

Meanwhile, the couple moved on to a high-end home in upscale Encino, CA, paying $8.5 million in 2018. Two years later, in 2020, the musician filed for divorce from Blackstock, and also looked for an exit strategy from the modern farmhouse, asking almost $9 million for the 10,000-square-foot trophy digs on half an acre.

Clarkson rose to fame with a win on the first season of “American Idol” in 2002. Her many hits include “Since You Been Gone” and “Stronger.” The two-time Grammy winner is also a coach on “The Voice” and hosts “The Kelly Clarkson Show.”
