After landing on the market in April for a whopping $47.5 million, El Solano, the massive Palm Beach, FL, estate once owned by the musical legend John Lennon and his wife, Yoko Ono, is currently under contract, the Palm Beach Daily News reported.

The couple bought the retreat for $725,000 back in 1980. Yes, that was 40 years ago, but that’s still quite an appreciation in value. The property dates to the 1920s, and was designed by the resort architect Addison Mizner.

Before Lennon’s untimely death in December 1980, he and Ono had grand plans to renovate the sprawling mansion and make Palm Beach their ultimate vacation destination.

Word was that Lennon had an affinity for the small seaside town on Florida’s southern Atlantic coast, and that it had always been a dream of his to live there.

Ono carried on with renovations to the property after Lennon died, but then quickly sold it.

Since then, the sellers have further renovated the estate. The identity of the buyers is not yet known, nor is the price agreed upon.

With over 10,000 square feet, the mansion offers a library, oceanfront dining room, chef’s kitchen, seven bedrooms, and nine bathrooms. Its exterior offerings are just as posh, including two pools, cabanas, a tennis court, and perfectly manicured grounds.

An abundance of outdoor living space makes entertaining a breeze. And with 180 feet of ocean frontage, the views of the beach don’t disappoint.

The home’s details, from chandeliers to hand-designed ceilings to the salon with wet bar, are definitely fit for the rock ‘n’ roll royalty who once inhabited the space.

The Mediterranean spread also comes with one intriguing feature. According to the Palm Beach Daily News, the home is attached to the home of a neighbor, the bestselling novelist James Patterson, through a guesthouse. A 1920s walkway links the two structures.
