Rihanna's real estate

Rihanna recently purchased a super swanky estate in SoCal. The singer, actress, and entrepreneur snagged a Beverly Hills compound for $13.75 million. It represented the latest in a string of transactions for the chart-topping artist, who has spanned the world in real estate from Barbados, London, Los Angeles, to New York.

Along with her music, acting, and her Fenty Beauty and fashion business, the Barbados native has bought and sold multiple properties—and rented quite a few too.

With hits like “Umbrella” and “Diamonds,” she’s sold over 250 million albums worldwide, making her one of the bestselling musicians of all time, with an estimated worth of $600 million. But it’s not all “Work work work” for the singer. The nine-time Grammy winner has also “found love” with the real estate game. We took a deep dive into RiRi’s real estate, and here’s what we found.

Beverly Hills compound

Most recently, Rihanna, whose full name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty, picked up a lavish compound in an exclusive enclave of Beverly Hills for $13.75 million. She’s just across the street from her collaborator on “FourFiveSeconds” Paul McCartney.

Hidden behind lush hedges and gates, the brand-new construction is a mix of modern and traditional elements.

The five-bedroom, seven-bathroom spread includes 7,628 square feet of living space, with a cocktail bar, formal living and family areas, and chef’s kitchen. French oak flooring flows from room to room. A sumptuous master bedroom features views and a spalike bath that opens up to a private outdoor sitting area.

The half-acre grounds are designed for entertaining. The main living areas open to an immaculately manicured central courtyard, with a multilevel outdoor space featuring a grand outdoor terrace, pool, spa, and fire pit.

Other high-end features include an office, gym, media room, and separate guesthouse. Not surprisingly for a star with security issues, the property includes a gate, card and code access, and security lights.

Melodious mansion

Over a decade ago, Rihanna picked up a contemporary home in Beverly Hills in 2009 for $6.9 million. The remodeled residence included 8,500 square feet of living space, seven bathrooms, nine bedrooms, and 33-foot ceilings in the living area, which flows outside to the pool and pergola.

However, her dream home turned out to be a nightmare. Plagued with ongoing maintenance issues with the home, including leaks, she sold the place at a loss for $5 million in 2011, and proceeded to sue the previous owner.

In 2014, she settled with the lawsuit for undisclosed terms.

If the property looks familiar, it eventually became the residence of the celebrity couple John Legend and Chrissy Teigen, who bought the property for $14.1 million in 2016.

They completely overhauled the space and placed the jaw-dropping result on the market for $23,950,000 last summer. Since then, the price for the luxe estate has dropped to $18,890,000.

Pacific Palisades palace

After leaving the waterlogged home, RiRi moved on to a posh place in Pacific Palisades, paying $12 million in 2012.

Built in 2009, the modern estate, up a long, gated driveway, offers lush canyon views. With 9,500 square feet of living space, the interiors feature high ceilings and a vast entertaining space.

The two-story entry with double glass doors leads to a formal foyer with sweeping staircases. The six bedrooms include the master suite with a sitting room, fireplace, two walk-in closets, luxurious bathroom, and walls of glass doors that open to the pool.

The lower level offers a garage, media room, or a guest suite.

Meanwhile, the highlights of the outdoor space include a roof deck, putting green, and patio.

Unfortunately, this property also had problems. After multiple break-ins, the star vacated the place, rented it out, and eventually sold it in 2016, for $11.2 million. Today, the home is currently back on the market for $16 million.

Attracted to the Hollywood Hills

In 2014, the pop singer opted to rent instead of own. She moved a splashy, super-secure structure known as “King of the Hill.”

Set on a half-acre with jetliner views, the snazzy interior features seven bedrooms and 10,369 square feet of living space.

The completely walled and gated property claims to have appeared in many movies and star-studded events. A photogenic space to be sure, the home includes a master suite with a fireplace and a wall of windows. Additional walls of glass capture panoramic views from the open-concept living area.

An updated kitchen looks out to a dining area with views. Amenities include a gym, movie theater with bar, and outdoors, a pool, 12-person spa, sauna, koi pond, and detached two-bedroom guesthouse. Built in 1994, the home last sold in 2012, for $7.2 million.

After taking a shine to the area, the A-lister decided to put down some roots, purchasing a Hollywood Hills mansion in 2017 for $6.8 million.

The 2015 build offers a “contemporary traditional” style. Set on almost a half-acre, the home is close to the Sunset Strip, with tranquil treetop and city views.

With 7,130 square feet, the layout offers six bedrooms, a living room with a fireplace, formal dining room, and a chef’s kitchen that opens to a large family room.

On the second floor, a master suite features a sitting area, fireplace, views, and spalike bath. Three more suites are on this floor.

Other luxe details include a movie theater and gym. High-end details include soaring ceilings, arched doorways, and steel-framed doors and windows.

The gated property is outfitted with a guesthouse and fitness center, and the grounds include extensive space overlooking an infinity pool, the grassy yard, and ample parking.

But after an intruder broke into the house and stayed there for 12 hours, Rihanna left the place. In 2018, she put the home back on the market for $7.5 million. When she couldn’t find a buyer, Rihanna opted to become a landlady, renting the home out for $35,000 a month. It’s currently off market.

West Hollywood flip

Rihanna also briefly owned a darling West Hollywood home. In August 2017, she picked up the adorable villa for $2.75 million.

She soon experienced a change of heart, and put it on the market just a couple months later, for $2.85 million. The Spanish-style residence comes with five bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms. Hedges surround the gated property and open to a courtyard with a garden of succulents and four-car garage.

With no buyers leaping to buy the charming home, Rihanna tried her hand at renting it for $16,500 a month. In February 2018, she wound up selling the property for the asking price.

Condo living

After apparently suffering yet another security breach at her property, Rihanna fled to another place she reportedly owns in La La Land, a condo at the Century Tower.

The singer is said to have tapped the “stalker-proof” condo as her primary residence in 2017. Purchased for $5.5 million in 2014, the three-bedroom apartment on a high floor offers views of downtown Los Angeles in an ultra-luxe building.

Building upsides include three layers of security, a 75-foot pool, gym, 24-hour valet, concierge, and door attendants.  Other high-profile residents include Paula Abdul and Candy Spelling.

In addition, the celebrity made another condo purchase in L.A.’s Westwood neighborhood a few years back. In 2016, she picked up a two-bedroom condo for $925,000, Variety reported.

The 2,000-square-foot open layout in the midcentury tower offers views of Westwood Hills through full-glass doors and  a full-length balcony. Amenities in the full-service building include the 24-hour front desk and security, valet parking, gym, and a pool and pool deck.

Manhattan move

Rihanna also tested out life in the Big Apple. She rented a high-flying Manhattan penthouse apartment in 2013, for a head-spinning $39,000 a month. Then she dropped the pad in 2017, when the rent soared to $50,000 a month. At that point, the place came on the market for a whopping $17 million.

Spanning the top two floors of the building, the 7,000-square-foot unit includes a 2,400-square-foot wraparound terrace.

The top floor is accessed by a key-locked elevator. It opens to the living room, which features oversize windows, a 13-foot-high-ceiling, concrete flooring, and a wood-burning fireplace.

The open layout includes a chef’s kitchen with top-of-the-line appliances. There’s a steel-and-wood floating staircase, media alcove, dry bar, and a powder room off the kitchen.

The outdoor terrace delivers gorgeous views of the city and makes a perfect perch for hosting parties.

There are three full bathrooms and four bedrooms, including the master suite with a dressing room and walk-in closet.

While the digs are certainly worthy of a rockstar, the home seems not to have found a buyer. After coming on and off the market over the years, with a drop in the price tag of about a million dollars in 2020, it’s been taken off the market.

Hamptons escape

The hitmaker reportedly decided to ride out the pandemic in style. She retreated last summer to a Hamptons home where she apparently paid $415,000 for just a few weeks.

The party pad on 2 acres includes five bedrooms and 8,900 square feet. The spread also includes a boat dock and a boat. The upscale property had once been rented by the Kardashians back in 2014, during the filming of “Kourtney and Khloé Take the Hamptons.”

This choice property has its own 85-foot dock.

Going international

Sometime in 2018, the founder of Fenty Beauty headed to London, where she rented a luxe mansion in St. John’s Wood for about $20,000 a week, according to Mansion Global.

She was able to live in secluded space under the radar, and enjoyed her secret life in London until an Instagram post outed her as a Londoner.

The 6,300-plus-square-foot contemporary interiors offer seven bedrooms and a gym, landscaped garden, and off-road parking. The upscale estate hit the market last fall for $41 million.

The wheeler-dealer also reportedly owns a beach pad in the Caribbean. According to the Daily Mail, she paid $22 million in 2013 for a luxury abode on Barbados, the island where she was born.

Located in the One Sandy Lane resort, the 10,000-square-foot condo includes five en suite bedrooms and boasts its own terrace.
