All rise. The late Judge Joseph Wapner’s Los Angeles penthouse apartment has come on the market for $2,595,000. The popular television judge, who presided over the courtroom reality TV show “The People’s Court,” died in 2017. A pioneer of the ever-expanding world of televised courtroom shows, Wapner also leaves behind the legacy of his real estate.

The TV judge purchased the the light-filled condo on Century Hill in 2000, for $1.45 million. The rare penthouse offers three bedrooms, six bathrooms, and 3,524 square feet.

A second large room includes a built-in bar, and was used as the judge’s office, but could double as a man cave or rec room. Photos show memorabilia from Wapner’s TV show career decorating the walls.

Wapner’s long legal career started with undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Southern California. He went on to serve in World War II, receiving a Bronze Star and Purple Heart before returning to civilian life. He then joined the bench as a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge for 20 years, before retiring.

In 1981, he began his starring role as a TV judge, presiding over “The People’s Court” and rendering decisions on small-claims disputes. His was the first of the courtroom TV shows, and the beloved judge’s 12 years on the bench yielded 2,340 episodes of the popular syndicated program.

His years handing down judgments in 30-minute segments earned Wapner a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The celebrated adjudicator died at the age of 97 in 2017.
