Texas-based homebuilding behemoth D.R. Horton is seeking to build 120 moderately priced townhouses on a 17.5-acre parcel in unincorporated Dekalb County.

Units in the development, which would be located at 4743 Flat Shoals Pkwy. near the intersection with Flakes Mill Road, would be primarily marketed to young professionals, adults without children and “empty nesters,” D.R. Horton said.

According to documents filed with the county, the units would be priced from $200,000 to $225,000, compared to the average $166,000 price point in the community.

“As a result, the proposed project will push up the housing price points in the area for singlefamily detached homes by helping to establish a floor for resale of existing homes in the area which are at the lower end of the housing market,” the homebuilder said.

The townhomes would be built in the craftsman style with a combination of brick, hard-plank, board and batten, fiber-cement shake facades. Of the townhomes, 72 are slated for front entry with a one-car garage, while the remainder would be rear entry with two-car garages, according to the documents.
