The Baseball Hall of Famer Derek Jeter has cut the price of his castle in Greenwood, NY. Fit for baseball royalty, the massive vacation spot is now available for $12.75 million.

The baseball legend purchased the property in 2005 for $1.2 million, while he was starring as shortstop for the New York Yankees. He then “lovingly restored” the idyllic estate, built in 1915, to a state “beyond its original grandeur,” the listing notes.

But now that he’s retired, and has traded the Empire State for the Sunshine State as a part owner and CEO of the Miami Marlins, he’d like to pass this home to a new owner.

In 2018, Jeter initially placed the regal home, known as Tiedemann Castle, on the market for $14.75 million. The home has family ties to Jeter, whose maternal grandfather grew up there in the 1950s, after being adopted by the owners of the castle, John and Julia Tiedemann, as we previously reported.

Jeter brought the castle back into the family fold, fixed it up, and enjoyed the place for over a decade, before he was ready to let it go.

The sprawling spread, with 700 feet of shoreline, is now billed as “perfect as a full-time residence with plenty of space for everyone working/schooling from home.” For those who prefer to use it on the weekends, it’s just 90 minutes from Manhattan.

Set on almost 4 acres, the property spans two parcels and consists of the main house, a guesthouse, and poolhouse.

The grounds feature an infinity pool, extensive gardens, a lagoon, boathouse, and such unusual features as a replica Statue of Liberty and waterfall.

Built for entertaining crowds, the four indoor kitchens with top-of-the-line appliances add to the ease of throwing a dinner party in any part of the house. For outdoor soirees, the outdoor kitchen with its wood-burning fireplace will do the trick. 

Meanwhile, no castle is complete without a turret, and you can climb up through this one to get to the roof and enjoy the views.

Other features of the home include a formal dining room, living room, and sunroom, which opens to a balcony. There’s also an office, game room, elevator, wet bar and lounge, and exercise room.

Other real estate deals in play

The former Yankees captain placed his massive mansion on Tampa’s Davis Islands on the market for $29 million last fall, after reportedly playing landlord to the newly transplanted quarterback Tom Brady and his wife, the model Gisele Bündchen.

That mind-boggling waterfront property comes with seven bedrooms and almost 22,000 square feet of interior space. Highlights include a club room with full-service bar, billiards and game table, multiple TVs, and a sitting area. Outside, the space includes a dock and two boatlifts, a heated spa, and an 80-foot saltwater lap pool, giving the estate a resort vibe.

Jeter also has a sweet setup up in Miami. He reportedly rented out a luxe condo in Coconut Grove when he initially landed on Florida’s Atlantic Coast, but has since traded that apartment for a mansion in Coral Gables, FL. He appears to have purchased the Miami-area property in 2018 for $6.5 million.

The eight-bedroom abode has plenty of perks for the whole family, including a media room, gym, and walk-in wine room. Located on nearly an acre of land, the spread includes a pool and a courtyard, with gazebo, BBQ, and bar.

In 2019, the Yankees star told People magazine, “’Raising a family in Miami is definitely different than in New York.’” Describing himself and his wife, Hannah, he added, “We’re enjoying life and raising our family here.”

Now 46, the legendary infielder spent his entire 20-year playing career with the Yankees. Over the two decades, the five-time World Series champion snagged five Gold Glove Awards and five Silver Slugger Awards.
